Heh, Dizzy games were indeed great, if a little frustrating at some times! I enjoyed the original one best I think - even if the graphics were a bit 'Spectrummy' as I used to say, it had a great atmosphere.

500 games for £500 would be £1/game
3500 games is 7*500, so it;s 1/7th of a £1 per game, which is about 14p a game.

Have you got Qix, Pole Position, Spellbound, The Adventures of Monkey Island, Rick Dangerous, Revenge of the mutant camels, Caverns of Eriban, Thrust and of course Blitz on the Vic 20?

That's £1.26 worth already.

Spellbound? Gah, the amount of time I spent on that game! Loved it, but never finished it...

There was a Pole Position 2?

I remember Pole Position 1, it was just the same track but with three different settings, maybe four. Practice, Warm up, Namco Speedway and Super dupety Grand Prix mode.
Always the same track, but the higher the setting, the more cars, but I was top dog and could always squeeze past the leader (Paaaaaaaarp), nope, that's not me farting but a sort of 8 bit airhorn noise it made on passing a car.
If you lost control, you'd get a flurry of red orange and yellow pixels where your car used to be, then you'd be back, fully repaired in the centre of the track, ready to go PAAAAAARP all over again.

When you finished you'd get an overtake bonus and a time bonus.

This is from the same fondness of nostalgia that 2p Compton's colour roulette finds itself, filed away in my brain.

Anyone know if COmpton's 2p colour roulette was rigged?

there was no need to fix the 2p roulette .i cant remember exactly the ins and outs of the comptons one but the whittakers one only paid 32p for the white(zero)and as it was a 25/1 shot there was no need to rig it even if you was part of a family of cheerful travelling folk.

for the record i have seen a sequence that contained the white 3 consecutive times and at least once more in a close grouping.

i'd like to be popping over to leicester soon myself but i also need a haircut first,my route will be a little different though. i've got 10 days off in mid july to choose from, hopefully that amazing in *i*****ss will be ready for me too.

.

I may be floating around Tuesday, I'll give you a bell if I float over to Leicester.

I seem to remember a version of colour roulette where a green triangle would randomly light up and you'd get a mystery prize (usually 8p) even if you didn't hit your colour. This was the VERY best version. EVERYONE got the mystery prize, EVERYONE.
Wow! I remember walking away from the fair with over £1 in 2p pieces, what excitement! We also had a steak dinner in a pub that was 26 years away from getting an Alien.
