A good quality microwave spoons or hungry horse meal has that effect! None of them cook anything!

You get what you pay for fella. It's when you pay £20 for a main course and it's shite that you have grounds to complain.

You know it's cheaper to go sit in Yates and eat fish chips & peas than it is to buy it to take out from the local chippy. Madness

Dont know who eats in these places, if you want to have something to eat then goto a specialist resturant not a half pub, half nightclub half food service you're bound to get a shit meal.

Those cheap meals can fill a gap. It's a bit like aeroplane meals. Strangely tasty, but we all know it's not 'proper' food.

Crown Carvery is huge value when compared to Toby etc

Again food critics will notice a tendency for veg to be over cooked, but the meat is carved in front of your eyes by a trained chef and you should have no grounds to quibble for the price. The roast potatoes have always been tasty enough.

You're quite right Luke, if I did want a more gastronomically focused experience, I would visit a Michelin starred/highly recommended restaurant.

You pays your money and you takes your choice ... If its £4.95 for a main meal it going to be microwaved/deep fat fried but on the upside it should be quick and it'll fill you up (even if just for a little bit)

Must agree with Lugsy though; Yates's food is awful, even in a spoons there may be a couple of palatable dishes but in Yates's all tastes of nothing but vegetable oil!
