getting a Lumina to work on a Global machine

Post by reelman »

Hi Huys,
I got myself a Lumina note acceptor off flea-bay the other week (yes, I know they're cr*p and prone to being scammed)
However, they can only be scammed if the thing works in the first place, which at the moment, this one doesn't.
I'm trying to fit it to a Global Club Pontoon, for which I don't have a manual. It is connected to the hopper driver board, and I've set the Dils on the Lumina as follows 1-7 OFF, with 8 ON.
Without a manual for the Pontoon, I'm a little stuck as to what settings are required on the machine. I've tried a few combinations for switches 1 to 4, as these generally govern note acceptors on Global, but nothing seems to work, and all I get is a flashing red X on the Lumina. There's no hints that a note acceptor is even connected on the machines LEDs during initialisation, as there would be with an NV4, and the Lumina doesn't seem to "kick into life" for a second or two, like NV4s and others do on startup.
Any help gratefully received.

Could it be that I need a loom that plugs into the main board instead? Are Lumina mechs a little like the old NV4s ~ either coming as a parallel or serial unit? If so, could it be that I've the wrong one?

Need to put an option switch/s on the mpu 1st,

try sw 2 top bank 1st - this works on most maygay's and epoch globals

or could be sw8 top bank,

when you find the right switch, on boot up it should say 'nv4 parallel'

enter test etc.....

Tried this, but no Joy. Thinking that I may have the Dils on the Lumina round the wrong way, as they are so small and I can hardly see them, I reversed them, but that too made no difference.
Tried connecting up an NV4, using the same universal loom, and the same settings on the CPU as advised, and this kicked into life.
I'm now starting to think that the Lumina is duff ~ any suggestions guys ?

Lumina in parallel mode should be 1-7 off and 8 on, does it light up in test at all?

Oh, one thing, the connector for NV4 and Lumina are the same except on the Lumina the last 3 pins on the loom should be empty - could that be the problem?
