Ok, right, I know what you mean. In that case I hope he makes a formal complaint of harassment (not that it's likely to accomplish anything).
Really??? If he was plugging it, he deserves everything he gets...
If he was just switching it on, then what's the problem? On the other hand, if he was doing something else..

This sort of thing really makes me (as a legit player) think twice about switching on and off machines which aren't taking coins, in case it gets misinterpreted.

In most cases I just go to the bar and ask. Some landlords aren't aware of this workaround for glitchy coin mechs and tend to be grateful to learn that resolving it is as easy as ACDC.

@Ricster security guy:

You should be promoted to Whitehouse detail - I hear they may be having a bit of a reshuffle. Either that or head of the CIA if 'the PARAGON one'  proves to be innocent.

Ricster wrote:To keep you updated they guy is 32 years old, and police went round to charge him this morning. He has admitted to defrauding the machine but will not tell officers how he did it.

Police have also revealed they have had "intelligence" on this guy for about 18 months with similar incidents with paragon's and also a bank machine. Each time before there wasn't enough eveidence to charge him.

This time, because of 35mins of CCTV footage the guy has been banged to rights.

If you saw the CCTV you'd see for yourself that there was definately a scam going on. By switching the machine off and then back on, and doing something with the screen before the loading bars came up he was able to gain free credits. He then played the machine and won money using those free credits.

How he got the free credits is still a mystery.
You are lying ricster, either that or you are misinformed. I know exactly what happened. I have been speaking to the 'paragon one', he has not admitted to defrauding the machine and police do NOT have 18 months inteligence on him for similar incidents involving paragons, or indeed bank machines! (and if someone had something on a bank machine do you think they would bother with a worthless quiz machine?!)

I also doubt that an engineer from treasure ISLAND, which is based in northern Ireland (ive done my research) would travel to Dumfries to examine the machine.

As I said, I have played this machine before, it tends to freeze a lot.

Can we just leave this thread at that?

If anyones curious pm.

'This time, because of 35mins of CCTV footage the guy has been banged to rights'

What does 35mins of footage showing a guy switching a machine on and off prove.

It proves he switched a machine on and off.

Yeah, spot on. The "evidence" looks sketchy and circumstantial.

If he was doing the old paragon method that involved turned the machine on and off, then technically he has committed an offence and should quite rightly be prosecuted.

That is not an honest means of winning out of a skill game.

i don't condone any immoral activity and illegal acts should be punished. however, the isolated incident of rebooting a computer to restore functionality can't be considered criminal. without seeing the CCTV footage, it is difficult to condemn or champion the paragon one.
nobody ever wins on those things.

Let's portmanteau this to 'The Paragone'... ;) (Para-gwun)
"And do you ever contradict yourself, Minister?" "Well, yes and no..."

I agree with this point wholeheartedly... but it wouldn't be very hard for GW to find out why the machine was turned off, as they must have some kind of logging in the machine....
