go on maverick m8 ,,,,,,,,, have a boast about the specs ,,,,,,,,,, i would if it was my new toy .
i suspect a similar spec could be bought for half the price on a lesser brand
but love em or lothe em ,,,,,,,,, when it comes to all things sony , you cant beat the build quality for the extra coffers. ive got a 20inch sony hdtv just for the bedroom ps3 and its awesome .

gotta agree with trayhop ( first time ever?) but Sony are the greatest for build quality but you know the chinese can give the same or greater specs for a quarter of price. When it comes to laptops or stuff that would last ages I would take Sonys but cheap crap like DVD players or MP3s that would die after 6 months regardless you might as well go for the cheap crap!

like the horny dude is hinting at ,,,,,, there is a line between brand quality and price
although in most things , i would prefer to pay more for the trusted brand and its reputable build ,,,,,,,,,, sometimes you can buy the cheaper brand with say a 5 year warranty for the same price or less ,,,,,,,,, im talking expensive item like your main tv etc ,,,,, you cant put a price on the 5 year piece of mind.
but for smaller things ,,,,, when you can buy a toaster or kettle for as low as £4 in asda/argos ,,,,,,,,,,, who gives a shit if it only lasts you 12 months .
ive got a £200 panasonic microwave combi oven and grill , one box does it all jobby .
but what a waste of money , because in a year of use , ive done nothing but use the microwave function ,,,,,, might as well have had the £35 asda alternative .
but for your passions you should always pick quality ,,,,,,, there's nothing worse than not being happy with your new toy and wishing you had bought the dearer product in the first place
case in point my surround sound kit was a £100 shitty accustic solutions argos kit , and although ok i suppose ,,,,,,,,, a waste of £100 ,,,,,,,, weedy sound , cheap speaker's
then ive bought another far more expensive set , which is ear splitting earth shakingly good ,
the old adage ,,,,,, penny wise pound foolish
ps ,,,, if any one is after any high end new electrical products ,,,,, i must recommend ritcher-sounds ,,,,,,,,,, no matter what you buy ,,,,,, just add 10% of the purchase price for a 5year guarantee ,,,,,, top

Agreed, Richer Sounds is an excellent choice of shop for audio visual and the 10% extra for a 5 year warranty makes the price upto the high street anyway. Yet Currys etc try and force the extra warranty on you at £200+, it does make you think whether its about piece of mind or the plain fact that products aren't built to last anymore.
Enjoy your Vaio Maverick and do us a favour, try.not.to.eat.your.space.bar.this.time! :P

well everybody builds their pc dependant on what your gonna use it for .
my mrs has a basic £300 pc world laptop , but its sole use is for ebay .
that sounds an impressive setup matt , i take it you want all that power for online gaming ???
if you shop around (and/or are interested in movies ) i would add a blu ray drive.
the monitor is a good purchase , but you could get the lg m227wd from play.com for 50 quid more 22inch, its full hd , has all the inputs you need and is a tv too .
connecting a pc nowdays through hdmi to a full hd set ,,,,,,,, just future proofs you.
hope this helps

Sweet - might take a look at that. I know I said I'd hope to spend not more than £800, but I've ear-marked a £1k for it. Amazing what you can get if you know what you're doing. Dell would want £1,500+ for a rig like that.
Cheers Tray - good advice, I know I've also got to chuck Vista in on top of that (and I've just looked at the GFX card I'd chose and it's discontinued, going for a 2gb one instead! ) Yep, you got it - I want the ultimate gaming experience - fed up of tweaking GFX settings etc just to be able to play CS:S.

Did you get a new pc from there in the end? I want a new laptop but there's so many different places to hunt for a good deal at. Anyone know of any decent places?Matt Vinyl wrote:Ooh, I'm interested! ]Click![/url]
