Maygay reel error

I have a Maygay Wild Zone and it has come up with a error of

2.3 Reel 3 Error and a loud noise

also the coin mech will not except coins any more just drop straight through any ideas would be good i have tried the usual a sin unplugging and reconnection of all plugs to both units

As I know that you have already checked the battery, next step is to look for burnt or overheated connectors.

If the connectors check out ok you could try swapping reel 3 with reel 2 and see if the fault moves with the reel.
If it does then the reel opto or even motor may be at fault.
Did it have the coin mech problem before the reel alarm started?

can you tell me is there a order in which the reels should be in when machine starts up as i have found that if i line all reels up so that all leds are lit on the reel i call them detectors then i dont get error reel 3 msg come up but when i restart it after this i get the error msg does that mean anything to anybody ?

yes coin mech was a problem before the reel error message
