Not refilling...help!!!

Hey. Bought myself barcrest snakes and ladders fruit machine. However since it arrived it will not refil. I followed the correct way to do it (simple I know) but when it tells me to refill coins, I put money in but it goes straight through and back out in the tray...will not accept money. Can anyone help with this.
