Just wondering as well, if people knew how to distinguish between a chipped VIU and an unchipped one without trying the PAR cheat?.....
The fact that there is different tempo of music when you take nudges is the answer. On un-chipped ones the music is much faster in contrast to the chipped ones.
Just thought i would share a bit more info!

Simple, if a certain trick on a machine works its unchipped
If it does'nt its chipped
