61 runner £50 freezeout.
down to 18 avge stack 18000
blinds 400/800 + 100 ante
I'm in the BB with exactly 10000
three limpers before it gets to my option
that's a total of 4500 in the middle
I have 7,7 and decide to try to take the pot there, thinking it's unlikely I'd be up against two big overs or a bigger pair, and I'm prepared to take my chances against a bare ace.
I move my remaining 9100 in
first two limpers pass.
final limper dwells for ages and eventually calls, covering me by only a hundred or so.
he shows 8,6 off
flops a 6, turns an 8 and KOs me.
I'm not posting to moan about the bad beat, or about the play.
I accept it as part of the game.
In fact this player is well known for it and is nicknamed "bag of bollocks" (you'll know him if you've ever played poker in Notts.
Just trying to show it's not just online where people making fishy calls get rewarded.
live poker is rigged.
can't getg hand histories unfortunately.
would be bloody useful though.
here's a hand I played that has me stumped.
I was small blind this time.
again, three limpers, I make it up and the BB checks.
I have K,8
flop is K,5,5
I decide I have to thin the field a bit so bet half the pot
only one caller. a Young lad that I'd been watching. Fancied himself as a bit of a phil Ivey. He wasn't bad to be fair. was making interesting moves.
turn was an 8 so I bet half the pot again, he called
river was a 6 but a third spade.
I bet half the final pot and he quickly moved all in.
I couldn't put him on the flush as the spades came turn and river.
I'd made it too obvious that I didn't have a 5 as I led out on every street.
Either he had A,5 or he mugged me.
I suppose K,Q was also a possibility.
passed my two pair and took a big hit on that hand.
Good pass or done over?
would be bloody useful though.

Wasn't you was it JG?
He had showed a couple of bluffs with rag aces which was what made me think A,5
Funny that I've been away from live poker for 18 months and there were dozens of new twentysomethings who all thought they were the poker superstars of the future. This lad could certainly play a bit, but most of them aren't nearly the legends they thing they are.
The old dogs are still there and still make the money.
Can't wait to get back to the table and get my bankroll going again.
