Fruit Machine Chat

Ok this happened to my friend on our way to london.

He's not a fruit machine player by any means, but does know what he's doing somewhat.

Playing a crazy cash point £35JP, managed to get to 6 fruit steps which he collects for red sevens £15. Number is a 3, at this point i come to find him.

Now bear in mind we're leaving now, so he has no chance to reforce, or the funds to do so even if he did have the time, and he in the end bottled it and took the £15.

Question is, did he make the correct decision or not. I tried to explain that it was huge negative EV to take the £15, but he maintained that he didn't trust the machine at all, and didn't want to risk it shafting him.

PS no one post with stuff like should've just forced it from that point etc cause that much is obvious.

For him yes he is right. If it was me i'd have gone for the gamble otherwise i'd have been thinking would it/wouldn't it for the rest of the day.

you never really know.. £15 can be a killer, psychologically it depends how £15 comes about which determines what im going to do..
But if you cant put any more in, Id take it..

If it was red X-ing then theres a chance it would have gone up anyway, obvioulsy the machine is through every block just before the top now.

But if theres no time then you cant do it obviously, but I may have just bashed it in the hope of getting the top and having more than £15.

May have being there for the £105 as Gaz said I would have being thinking about it for most of the day.

i'd have gambled for the top everytime for the chance of a £35/£70/£105, if you lose its only £15 and lets face it you can lose that trying a dead red anyway.

imo it had to be hit cos the rewards could of been big.

Im split on this, part of me would have said take it as its £15 and could kill, but the other part would have urged me to go on as its that far.

I woulda found the time to force it
