Right, when i first played these i hated them, had a few bad experiences on them and never caught any. Lately though these have been part of my route. When they light up they can take the piss but what i have found is that you can try and get 2 crowns/ yetis and 2 red treasures and then gamble the bonus. most of the time it will give it to you. I know not a lot of people like these but they are growing on me!

That is the way I have always played them, they can still take the biscuit though. How did you play them before tooth if you didn't gamble for the yeti's / crowns?

Well i have tried to light all the features red and go for the top feature red i.e big freeze/ notes of the round table. I also used to hi lo and the try and get the bonus for the extra crown/ yeti/ red treasure, now if i get a bonus and it gives change number/ open board then i will gamble the bonus again.

I always take features like Hidden treasures red which is a true skill at the safe cash board.

I think the key thing that pisses people off about these two machines in particular (include Dragon Drop!) was the obvious blocks and constant peg-out on safe cash wins. I recall a while back getting up to around £50 on safe wins, I hadn't collected a penny out of choice!
At least with Reds like OAR etc, you can reasonably plan when the top is going to come, as you can sack the boards off far easier to avoid safe cash.
Snailblazer was the best of this breed, it certainly played a lot fairer and would frequently do £75 tops. Also, the 'lighting up' on this was 100% mccoy - no 'dodgy' redding a la SZ... I think that SB is still the red that I have had most tops achieved by turning all the features red. (Although Top Giza is very close behind!)

Kings Ransom is the worst for giving all red boards then only offering a select few features. Namely

Fast Cash
Find the Pea
Ready Steady Go

etc. I've had a couple of pots off target practice, but it still bounces off when it doesn't want to play ball. Got 3 of these here now!
