the italian job fruit machine Broke

Hi,

I am just wondering if anyone can tell me what is wrong with our fruit machine. Everything was fine until one night I went toilet and came back down and it was making an noise (like a security alarm).

It would only let u play in non money mode(ie like the lid was open). The following day I opened up the lid and tried to look at the error codes. when I was trying to do that...... all the lights off the lid of the machine went dead. Nothing displays now (no sound either). When u turn the machine on the power unit is working but no light on the outside of the fruit machine. Under the machine, all the boards have lights on and start flashing.

I hope someone can help as it is driving me nuts. Could it be the board that lights up the LED lights?

look forward to a reply

As usual, the first thing is to check the battery on the main board for any leakage.

Ive looked everywhere on each board and no sign of leakages. I was looking for a battery that you would find in a PC and could not find one anywhere. Can anyone else help?

many thanks

It is epoch base if that helps

If it's Epoch then the battery will look like this
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Maygay-Epoch-back ... tsupported
Leakage is common and often difficult to spot on these.

Also suspect the PSU (whether lit or not). They are generally crap on these.

Thanks for the reply. I will look for leakage now, if there is one does that mean the board needs replacing? also if its the PSU, how much do u think we are talking for another one?

many thanks for all your help

Hi, Epoch boards are very difficult to repair; you are best off looking for a replacement.
I have loads but they are all untested (so presumed faulty!)
Some of the other industry guys on here can probably supply one; failing that it's Ebay!

I got a new board, well 2. Switched all the chips over and there all in the right way. This is what happened

'powered up the machine with the top open, all lights come on (im thinking great, its worked) then two seconds later it all went dead. Just lights on the Epoch boards flashing. Turned it off and on and nothing. Just the boards flashing

I put all the chips on the other board I brought and it did the same first time round, then nothing after the three seconds of working. Turn it off and on and nothing

On the board. The security light is flashing, +vlogic is solid and the reset is solid. On the other boards the light is flashing on each one

I hope someone can help

The psu on these is notoriously dodgy, yes.
