Fruit Machine Chat

Hi everyone my name is Chris I am new to the forum and I am looking for advice on a fruit machine I have been given which is faulty, the machine is a Barcrest Trailblazer club which is set on £100 jackpot 10p play when I power the machine up the digital display reads R5TBL 24V sense fault OPTO alarm 54-29 can anyone tell me what this means and how to cure it I would also appreciate it if someone could tell me where to obtain a manual and decals for it as I would like to increase the stakes many thanks Chris

Cant help you with the alarm. Not sure if this is MPU4 or MPU5 - it`s close to the changeover. If it`s a MPU5 then being a clubber the stakes and prizes are controlled by the dip switches (bank 2) awkward to get to - it`s usually easier to remove the reels first!

It is not sounding the alarm it is coming up on the display it is an mpu5 thanks for the info on dip switches but i need the decals first thanks Chris

Reel 5 opto (sensor) may be faulty.

Check all the voltages are present at the MPU.
The row of LED lights consisting of 5 green and one red.
From left to right in normal working the first four geen should be on and the fifth should be flashing,the red should be off.
First green confirms -12v present.
Second green confirms 12v present.
Third green confirms 24v present.
Fouth green confirms 34v present.

hi machine doctor thanks for the advice i have checked the machine mpu lights as you suggest but my lights are the other way round to yours from left to right 1st is red off, second is green flashing, 3rd is green off, 4th is green on, 5th is green on and i have just found out the alarm was not sounding because front was up, when locked it shouts check it out can you tell me where to go from here when i collected the machine the reel on the far right has connector that has to be reached through the spokes of the reel that was off i have reconnected it but i still have the problem, any advice gratefully received thanks Chris

If it`s reel 5 then that will be the number reel - not one of the main reels (I think!)

hi jaffa just checked the number reel which appears to be working correctly that is it spins on power up as do all the reels what else can i do as you have probably gathered i am a beginner with no handbook many thanks Chris

Hi. I`ve got a handbook which I cant lay my hands on at the moment. I`m sure one of the other guys will be able to help you though!

Could still be the reel sensor. It will spin to self test and then go into error.

Is the LED on the reel sensor board lit?
Does it extinguish when you turn the reel so that the tab is blocking the sensor?

Although the fault could be a reel as said however,All those green LEDs should be on apart from the one flashing which is the status LED.
The green one that is out denotes a voltage missing at the MPU,check the power supply and that the fuses are all ok.

Good question, I have never known a faulty MPU5 PSU so far (but then faulty MPUs are rare enough too).

That LED out on the MPU only shows that a voltage supply is missing at the MPU.The fault will be at the power supply not the MPU,The only way to check that now is to meter all the voltages from the Power supply to check all is ok as no fuses have been found to be at fault.
