help with Cash Explosion

Can anyone help? I've just bought a 1990 Cash Explosion from Ebay, and it developed faults straight after i got it home. The guy who i bought it offis not being very helpful so thought id ask here.
When i turn it on, all that happens is the cancel and the start buttons flash together and 00 appears in the game credit window, when you press one or the other it counts in increments of 2, and although it was working, now thats all it does.
If you leave a door open the machine will reset and look like its ready to play, but when you insert money, it bleeps like the money is going in, but no credits clock up. When i did get a game out of it, the first reel would spin out of sync then catch itself up again, and repeats the process quite regular.
Iv'e looked around for some engineers but none are really helpful.
Is there anyone here who maybe able to help? Thanks

What manufacturer and tech is it?
Tech will usually be printed somewhere on the main circuit board.

The machine is Bellfruit, its the model from 1989/90/91, the same type of features as chain rection and cash attraction.
I spoke to machine doctor last night on PM a bit, but he had to go, what i can tell you though is, although i cannot see what the memory board make is (cannot see it on there anywhere) it has a blue 3.6v battery, but it looks ok and hasn't leaked at all, in fact it looks relatively new.
The machine will play with one door open, but when both closed the cancel and start buttons just flash together, again, Machine doctor suggested the door connectors may have been swapped around so it plays when a door is open.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Right last night, i turned it on, all that came on was the light beneath the reels, and after turning it on and off a few times, it came on, but although the machine beeped everytime i put money in, it did not register the credits.
I messed with a few connectors as MD suggested, then it started taking the credits and playing but the sound had gone. I registered 99 credits in it, played it down to 0 then turned it off, put it on 15 minutes later and it came on with the 99 credits bak on, i played it again.
Halfway through the play then it all went off again and left just the lights on beneath the wheels again, thats the stage its at now. I will add that while playing, the frst reel will spin out of sync a bit then come back into line of its own accord.
I hope you can help, iv'e called a few places here, and none will help.
I tried contacting the muppet off ebay i bought it off but he is ignoring me
I'd get rid of it but iv'e been looking for this type of machine for a long time and think its worth getting fixed. cheers. eil

If it is System85 then spares will be difficult to obtain.

Th original reason for buying a machine so old is that an engineer told me that if i got a well known make like Barcrest or Bellfruit, the boards can upgraded is that true? The board i have is joined onto a plastic backboard and hangs off 2 prongs.

That sounds more like Scorpion -.
To say that boards can be upgraded is not really true, they can only generally be replaced like for like with the same tech.
We really need a photo or for you to find the tech name on the board - for instance if it is running one of the Scorpion series boards then the PSU is more likely to be the problem.
