Old Bell Fruit on Scorpion 2 tech?,If so then the fault will most prob be RAM corrupt. The battery will have to be shorted to clear the RAM(with machine switched off).
And whilst on the subject of the battery, As we inform everyone check the batteries condition and if it's the old blue in colour type and leaking it will be corroding your board causing more problems,Including possibly this one.
This type of battery requires immediate removal and replaced.

You need to desolder the 3 pins from the circuit board.the15thdoctor wrote:Found the battery ! it IS blue and has leaked. Voltage is only 0.16v How do i remove the battery as it appears to be fixed to the board ?. There is also a memory error coming up but as i type this its not doing it !!! Thanks again in advance for any help.
Sounds like it has probably already screwed the board unfortunately.
When you have removed it you will need to neutralise any alkali residue on the board, using diluted vinegar; then rinse and dry thoroughly.
This will stop the board getting any worse. It can probably be repaired, most can.

That's good news.the15thdoctor wrote:Thanks looks like i'll need to buy a soldering iron then ! the error isnt coming up anymore and the machine plays ok so i hope i might just need a battery and to clear the memory as mentioned. Thank you for the help. oh one thing is there a way to get free play on this machine ?
You should still clean any residue off the board though, or it will sit there and continue to eat away!

It should go into freeplay with the cashdoor open? I can't remember or find the manual at the moment.
Think you have to set one of the dipswitches to get free credits though even in freeplay mode.

Yes well done you might just have saved your board but get that battery off even if you dont have a replacement.
That memory error is because the battery is flat.
If you are new to this take your time with what you are doing as you will have to disconnect the board to desolder the old battery, write down or mark all the positions of the plugs connected to the board as some can be fitted back in the wrong place and if you do that you will prob destroy the board.
As said just three pins to desolder, slowly and carefully remove the battery make sure none of the board tracking is not lifting off with it.
To answer your question on the free play, open the back door, the machine should reset, press the green button on the main board twice, this should put 50 free credits on the display.
If you do not press the green button correctly or fast enough(within 1 sec)the machine will go into test,to clear this just close the back door then open again and repeat above

thank you BOTH for you help very much appreciated. I have noted that the green is lifting around the battery, so im a bit worried about removing the battery without destroying the circuit. I live in salisbury wiltshire, do either of you know anyone that may be able to save this board ?. Again thank you for helping me get this far.

The green stuff lifting is hopefully just the lacquer.
Can't think of anyone around there offhand, you might have to post the board somewhere.

A few of the guys on here can supply you with one.
You can just use 3 single batteries in a holder, I know of people who always do - just remember that they will need to be pre charged as the circuit on the board could take ages to charge them otherwise!

That's why I would recommend not to use them although they will work when installed fully charged, people I have known to try that have ended up with faults to the charging circuit on the board and not able to keep all three batteries equally charged, resulting in memory alarms and RAM corruption. You can just use 3 single batteries in a holder, I know of people who always do - just remember that they will need to be pre charged as the circuit on the board could take ages to charge them otherwise!
Far easier to stick to the origional part replacement.
