Star Wars Machine

Hello all, new to all this so excuse me if i sound dumb!
I have had this Star Wars Machine about 2 weeks, plays great, has a note acceptor which i have used twice.
The other day i turned it on to get a loud alarm which i think blurts out "shut me down"!
Anyway i cheked the codes on front to those in book i have and it says Faulty or disconnected note acceptor.
Now i am not even bothered about using the note acceptor anyway, I unplugged the cable from the note acceptor to where it joins with another clip and loom of wires. I reset the machine but still the same.
Is there anything i need to do to stop the machine looking for the note acceptor on startup??
Any help appreciated
