The second pic is indeed a variable percntage key, allows you to vary the payout percentage of the machine, the settings are easy to find online.
The first pic with the two buttons at the back are exactly what the massive dayglo stickers say they are, the left is a test switch to enter the test menu , and the right is to tell the machine you have topped the hopper up with the minimum float ( machine dependent) .
whats causing your alarm ? if its a simple iou alarm , then just chuck a handful of pound coins into the hopper and let the machine pay them out.
hope this helps

when it goes to pay out there is no noise like the machine trying to pay out it just sounds the alarm

have you set the hopper as 'topped up'?
If the machine thinks the hopper is empty, it wont try paying anything out as it thinks its empty!
You'll need a refill key (or short across the refill switch) and then pressing the hopper topped up button. The hopper topped up button wont work unless you have the refill key in.

Yeah, should be an easy fix..
If there is no noise, i.e. it doesn't sound like it is attrempting to pay out, either:
The m/c thinks there's not neough £ to pay out the bank, or...
The hopper is disconnected...
----Standard refil / Refloat procedure should rectify this...

Put £125 in coins in the hopper and then turn your refill key and press the hopper topped up button.
