Reconnecting Hopper

After my first stupid question, thought i'd better wade in with another one.
The machine thinks it is full, which isnt a problem as i can deal with that.
So i put a few quid in... Which the machine then paid out, stating that the hopper was £6 off full (as the machine had paid £6 out)
Now i put the £6 straight back in, but even though the machine was now displaying that the hopper was now back at £125 again, all the money fell down to the bottom.... i take it this means the hopper is disconnected.
if my diagnosis is not a load of bollocks, how do i go about reconnecting it, as i don't see any obvious disconnections.

When a fruit machine hits it's float level it will re-direct (route) it's £1 coins to the cash box, sounds to me like you have just maybe pressed the top up button.
try dumping your hopper.
short out the wires on the back of your refill switch again. lol
press hopper dump switch (located near the bottom cash boxes)
then press start, your hopper should start to dump
now reset machine
ensure your machine is still in refill mode
and insert whatever pound coins you have manualy, through the coin mech
your machine will start to count them in, one by one
this will set your float level to exactly the number of coins it has in
NOTE:
if you already have £125 coins just put them straight into hopper and press top up switch again. & dont worry about where the coins go, the machine should be fine

dumped the hopper... the machine now thinks it's £123 light... but it STILL won't accept any coins. The pounds still fall through... that's not right is it.
Put a few quid in the hopper and the machine plays normally, just keeps putting all money the bottom and paying pounds out of the hopper until it's empty.
Looked at the hopper area and couldn't seem to see any issues with it... what could the issue be?
whatever i do i just can't physically get the machine to put any coins in the hopper.... had a couple of genesis cab machines before, never had this issue.

when you enter refill mode, what comes up on the alpha display?
refill X .....?
sound like you have a routing fault, what coin mech is it?
cashflow 126 or SR5?
has the routing plug come loose?

I had this problem with my Red gaming machine. It was just a pissing about coin mech, but I dumped it via refill key. This involved having they key turned, pressing and holding the hopper dump switch, then reaching over and pressing Test I think. After THIS dump, not the usual CASH OUT test one, did it work and the hopper balance returned to normal.
