id already seen your batterys on ebay :D thats where i'll get mine, its lost all sound again tho, it started to crackle, play the wrong sample and now nothing :( i sooo could use a manual on this machine i think as now its saying I.D fail as well as the normal memory 53. Thanks guys for getting me his far, im not giving up without a fight.

UPDATE: while working inside the machine with the door open and the speaker removed from the case so it was right by me i noticed that in fact the sound was there, just SO low to be inaudible when the speaker was inside the machine. it crackles loud but the FX are hardly there.

The alarms are to do with the battery failure.
As the RAM is not holding settings then it could be the volume has defaulted to zero and just needs turning up(refill key in and turned, press start button to find the volume mode and using hold buttons to increase or decrease the volume level).
If those settings are ok then....
Looking at your board at the bottom right hand corner, check the sound proms condition it should have some written description on it.
Check that the battery has not effected any components around that area as these are all sited below the batteries location and any leakage may have reached those points.

I did briefly consider that but there are not many machines where the lowest volume is so low as to be almost inaudible!

Definitely have to consider board damage as a likely explanation as you say.

Agreed on the sound issue, but still possible as the machine seems be be suffering RAM and the battery failure/damage and can cause a mountain of faults,as an ever growing number of machine owners with battery failure have found out to their cost, also just to try eliminate the obvious first.
As those more experienced in the trade confronted with this machine on site or in their workshop would have this repair up and running,I have noted that most of the members requesting help in the tech area appear to be novice machine owners.
Don't know if you agree with this but,My personal opinion is that it's best to get the easier repair tasks checked and carried out first before getting the machine owner confused with instructions to attempt the more difficult and often more costly.
