deal or no deal, bellfruit, VOLUME STUCK ON LOUD!!

Post by dondnewbie »

Hi folks, I'm a newbie to fruit machines but being that in my youth many machines gladly took my weeks wages without even so much as a thankyou, I recently decided to purchase a cheap classic dond bellfruit, £5 jackpot, scorpion 4, that was advertised locally, to see what they were all about and get my fingers dirty in the process.
So, the machine worked ok, the keys were lost so out came my drill and everything opened up without issue. The only obvious problems were that the sound was a little low and several of the bulbs had blown, so I set out to replace the blown offenders with new. Anyway, I started on the bottom buttons, replaced a few bulbs in the reels also, all good. I then moved up to the feature board and replaced several bulbs there. All good, I thought. After a day or so I went back out to my garage where the machine is stored, its a heated garage and 100 percent dry so no moisture issues etc, switched it on as usual, it initialised as normal, I cancelled the read meters? request, as normal, but blow me the volume was on MAX. I hadnt adjusted anything previously so it was a bit of a mystery. I switched the machine off and on a few times, it stayed loud,no change. A few days passed and I switched the machine back on to try it and it was fine again, about 25 percent volume. It was fine for a good hour or so, I played it on freeplay only. I then decided to replace the last few faulty bulbs, a few of the yellow and purple wires were a little loose in the bulb holders but nothing major. I closed the top down to have a quick play and blow me, the volume was cranked up all the way again! I did some research into volume controls, I pressed the green button to run test mode, found volume test, and it was already set to 00! I adjusted the volume all the way up, then all the way down, no change.
Am I doing something wrong? The volume does stay set on what you want it to be on test mode, i.e if you set it to 50 it will still be on 50 if you re set the machine, although the actual volume level is actually on maximum..
I would be very grateful for any advice please. Thankyou in advance!

Thanks for the reply. I cant see it being a speaker fault as in my brief experience they either work or they dont? But i'll try wiring in a new one and let you know. Cheers
