Fruit Machine Newbie - Help needed please!

Hi all.

I've just joined the forum today hoping that somebody out there will be able to assist me with my query.

I've recently purchased a Barcrest 4 reel machine called Royal Exchange, £75 Jackpot. I'm having some trouble with it due to the fact that I played it and won whilst messing around after I got it, but there obviously wasn't enough float to pay for the win. I could hear the hoppers trying to pay out then the alarm would go off and "Call Manager" would be displayed on the screen.

I tinkered with the machine a little bit, and used the refill key and managed to top it up with 3 pounds (in 20p pieces, the float needs to be £12 in 20p pieces) The refill won't take anymore coins due to them dropping straight into the "win tray".

Now, whenever I press the "Start" button it automatically gives me £2.50 in free credit and as soon as I get "Nudges" I can hold Cancel to nudge gamble all the way to Jackpot every time. Is this some kind of test mode?

The latch underneath which slides to the left which lets me open the entire front of the machine where all of the reels are doesn't seem to be locked so I can open the front at any time. Could it be due to this not being locked?

The person that I bought it from didn't give me a key for this, just a refill key and a key for the very bottom to access the hopper dump box?

Sorry for rambling but any help would be greatly appreciated! If any pics of the machine are needed incase I haven't explained it properly then let me know!

Yes your in door unlocked / test mode.

Ah ok. So if the top of the machine is constantly unlocked and the previous owner lost the key then it would be a case of buying a replacement barrel/lock from somewhere like Ebay? Thanks for replying, I appreciate the help!
