Barcrest Monty Python Problem, Coin Mech related?

Post by rosss2000 »

Hi there i recently purchased Monty python club fruit machine (awesome fruit machine). The problem i have is that i filled the hopper up with £300, once the money comes out of the hopper for a win, it does not go back in and drops into the cash box :( Not a massive problem but will eventually run out of money.

I have checked on this forum before and have seen similar posts about the routing plug - i checked this and it seems ok but am not 100% sure how to test if this is the problem?

The coin mech is mars and the main board says MPU5 - could it be this that the mech is broken as its almost like its not telling the £1 to go back into the hopper, and instead drops into the cash flow boxes at the bottom.

The 20ps seem to work ok

Any help would be very much appreciated

Thanks again for all your help

Did you do a hopper dump before you refilled? This will make certain the machine knows exactly where it is starting from.

Thanks for your quick reply :)

Hi there, yes i did a hopper dump it dumped £300, then said to dump excess which i did then i refilled it with the £300 and pressed the "hoppers refilled" button. I think this is the right way to do it.

Also not sure if relevant but the 20p hopper was filled and then reset, and the 20ps keep going into it, and dont seem to drop to the cash box at the bottom? Should they do this?

Thanks again

Pressing "Hoppers Refilled" or "Hoppers Topped Up" or any equivalent will make the machine think the hopper is full, therefore any coins would be directed into the cashbox.
Do you have a refill key?
What I would suggest(arduous as it is) is to dump the hopper, insert the coins through the Mech on refill mode, but only fill, say, 100 of them, or the jackpot equivalent. It is going to take a lot more money than it is going to pay out anyway, so why not play the money through instead of fully refill?
My machine was annoying like this. In the end, it took a hopper dump via refill mode(Press HOPPER DUMP switch by the cashboxes with refill key turned) to get it straight again.
I wouldnt know for sure where the hopper dump switch is on your machine though I am afraid, as my machine is in a different cabinet. I am making an estimate though.

Why not use the test routine to test the routing of coins?

thats what its there for !!

Then if they are diverting correctly in test it must be a float related thing,
If it don't switch the routes in test then it's mech related

RTFM.

Ok i checked balance with refill key, was at £300, so i won £10, then manually refilled - the problem is each one i put in manually dropped to the bottom and not in the hopper itself. Although the meter went up to £300 after £10, and then stopped accepting. Does this mean its the mech?

I used the test but could only spit out 20ps and £1s? This works ok but not sure what else i could do with the test except dump the hopper.

Basically whatever i do i cant seem to get the hopper refilled :(

Any ideas people and again thanks for all your help

Thanks

Right ok , i just tried emptying the hopper using the test mode, It counted £300 out. Then i checked hopper balance with the refill key and it still says £300.

When i play and win say a £10, the refill key does say £290, but when dumping it it does not seem to adjust it to £0?

Whatever happens it seems impossible to get the £1 into the hopper, is it worth buying and trying a new coin mech?

Thanks people

It means that £300 is needed to refill the hopper - not that there is £300 in the hopper. So it's correct.
Have you checked routing yet? This is likely to be the issue.

Right yes just reread form the start, MPU5 so the refill will display what's in the hopper not what's needed to refill. Sorry.

It's very odd if you are doing a full hopper dump and it still thinks the hopper is full.
Try clearing the ram, by momentarily shorting out the battery (putting a piece of wire from the negative side to the positive side for a millisecond).

Ok quick update

Got a new MPU5 board today, plugged in works ok but still the same problem, lol

The £1s do not go into the hopper, and the 20ps only go into the hopper and do not drop down

Could this be a simple router plug issue, does this control this please?

If the new board behaves exactly the same than yes, it's definitely a routing problem.
The plug isn't in backwards is it?
