I've just got my red arrow by JPM back after 2 years of it sitting in a lock up.
It worked fine before i put it in the lock up and when i plug it in now, it just alarms. No lights come on at all, and nothing is displayed in the display window,
Any ideas guys? I'm thinking possible the battery could be dead, or maybe something has been knocked out of place during the move.
Anyone experienced this before? any help/ideas what to check would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Red Arrow alarms when switched on with no display.. HELP!!

Probably.SnudgeBen wrote:Ok thanks. I'll try and get some pics taken at the weekend.
If the battery has leaked will this be obvious, visually?
However if the battery is an old blue Nicad then it may not be too obvious as the corrosive alkali can leak out in the form of a gas.
Look for green colouration on component legs.
Hi had another look at this yesterday and when i turned it on it alarmed again but this time while the alarm was going off i opened the top half of the machine. as soon as it lifted up the alarm stopped and the display came on and everything seems to be fine now . so happy days.
Not had time to play it but put a couple of quid in and all seemed good.
Do you think the battery will still be dead? Will it charge up when the machine is on or will i need to replace it if it is dead?

You are still best checking the board, if the battery has leaked it could cause a sporadic fault which tends to get worse until it dies.SnudgeBen wrote:Hi had another look at this yesterday and when i turned it on it alarmed again but this time while the alarm was going off i opened the top half of the machine. as soon as it lifted up the alarm stopped and the display came on and everything seems to be fine now . so happy days.

Any leakage will need to be cleaned and neutralised, it's a corrosive alkali you see.
