Error message, pls help!

Was just using my machine. During payout (enough coins inside to cover) I got the following message

alarm 17-83
pnd opto blocked
tamper

Would this be a problem with the hopper? Easy to fix?

It is a Barcrest Golden Dragon machine.

sounds like a jammed coin or dirty opto

Indeed. Should be easy enough to fix, take the hopper apart an either remove the obstruction, or clean the exit opto (the "eye") with some isopropyl alcohol.

How do you mean? Like a model? I wouldn't have a clue what type, this is my first fruity and I'm totally ignorant about the cogs and wires inside.

I'm going to try removing it later, taking the plastic divider off and manually turning the yellow wheel which holds the coins, see if anything is jammed. Where do I find the opto? Is it underneath the hopper, or, further down the shoot before the pay tray?

FIXED!

Thanks a lot guys. I took the hopper out, dismantled it, cleaned it, rotated the coin wheel inside, and voila! It's the first thing I've taken apart and managed to put back together again!

All working now!
