Giant Gems Problem-Always on test mode

Post by wubbs »

I bought a Giant Gems machine over a year ago, there was a note on the machine saying the guy had disconnected coin mechanism, but I just could not get the key to open machine. In the bottom of machine was a full coin mechanism so always assumed it went to test mode as this was not connected.

A few days ago I gave it to a friend for doing so work for me and he drilled the lock off to open machine, and strangely there was already a coin mechanism in there but we are still getting the test mode - also says door alarm 700 I think he said. Of course all doors are closed and door is pushing the little bar in when it is closed.

I have had a search and think there may just be a cable disconnected on coin mech(this is probably what the guy meant when he said he had disconnected coin mech), so have asked guy to check this(not heard back yet), but while I am waiting is there anything else this could be? I don't want the guy to think I have palmed a broken fruity off on him, and he had to carry it up 2 flights of stairs to a flat so really want to sort it for him!

Thanks in advance for any help.

If you can play the machine(free play) with the doors shut then the door switches have been altered to do that. Most possible they have reversed the door switch wiring or removed the switch from its bracket and left it hanging in the machine.

it should be in a genesis cabinet.... there should be a push switch on the left hand of the machine, under where the cancel button is.....

when the door shuts it should push in the switch, check in this area and see if its been moved or disconnected as said above

Sure Vivid did a version on a Bell Fruit tech too, which would account for the door alarm on the locking bar.

Thanks for all the advice. I am passing the info on to the guy with machine so frustrating I cannot see it myself. But he has tried suggested things, I also tested some things on my fruities and passed on results to him and still he claims it is in test mode.

The bottom door white switch which registers the door is closed is definately there and connected. And everything else seems connected.

He did mention there is a cable not connected around the coin mechanism area, but he said there is no where this could connect to, could this be the answer?

Very unlikely.

He would notice if the main coin mech loom was unplugged presumably?
