Snooker WC 2009

Post by Scott »

Who's watching this year? some absolute awesome stuff played today, Hendry proving a few doubters wrong today knocking in an awesome maximum, Selby was different class in the first 3 frames earlier with 3 centuries on the trot, hats off to Higgins for winning the next 4, then Selby responded with another ton, 4-4 overnight, should be interesting tomorrow, Robertson is another who looks really good, such a potter with amazing cue power, young Allen looks good too, very interesting for all the snooker fans this year!

Not to leave out Murphy, Maguire and Day, very hard to pick a winner from that lot.

I never saw Hendry anywhere near that! I've still got interest bet wise, i had:

£2 on Higgins @ 10/1
£1 E/W on Robertson @ 25/1
£1 E/W on Murphy @ 16/1

All betfred prices there. Nothing big money wise, just like to keep it interesting. I agree the standard has been unreal this year, high breaks galore and some awesome matches. I'd really like Neil to go on and win it now!

He did look good when he beat Ding, but i think Murphy will be to much, even though its fairly close right now i can see Murphy powering clear.

Yes i've found the snooker thoroughly absorbing so far, exceptionally high standard of both breakbuilding and safety. I saw old pizza face priced up at 50's, and as much as I don't particularly like the charmless gyet I would actually like to see him win it, because he is very much the underdog now.

Its very hard to pick a winner, but Selby had impressed me the most.

The commentators have mentioned that the pockets are more generous than usual. Any agree? Lots more centuries than normal.

They do seem to drop more than usual, who thought Hendrys final Black in his 147 had missed? it hit both jaws and dropped in.

Apparently it's the cloth that's making more marginals drop. They've been re-clothed much more this year because of so many bad bounces/kicks/dodgy runs etc in recent years. With newer cloths the ball will drop in more easily (less friction etc), though i'm not complaining! They still have to get them damn accurate to go in. Anyone like myself who has played normal club table and proper match table snooker will know how unbelievably harsh match pockets are, hit any bit of knuckle or cushion first and they pretty much don't go in. So unforgiving, just makes you appreciate their skill more. 8)

Fair play to Allen, he is gonna take some stopping i reckon, hope Selby does Higgins tonight, but Allen versus either of them in the semis will be a great match.

Stuck a cheeky fiver on Mark Allen since he's a fellow NI man.

That's the kiss of death put on him then :)

Shall i start a tipping service? Picked 3/4 semi finalists! Guaranteed some sort of return now, guess my best bet would be a Higgins win with Robertson second place, but woth Neil being from round here i;d like him to win it really.
