My DVD Drive has packed up on my pc, is it just a case of replacing it, disconnecting the old one and connecting the new one?

Yeah it's a desktop PC thankfully and that's what I thought, thanks for confirmingMatt Vinyl wrote:If it's a desktop PC, you should be able to replace it easily (and cheaply!). Just literally a case of unplugging the old one (slotting it out of the casing, too) and inserting the new one.
Laptops, are more bloody involved - don't I know it!![]()

Yeh, if its a couple of years old its more than likely an IDE drive (connector is a 40pin rectangle shape). So be careful to pick an IDE model and not a SCSI / SATA.
Check the jumper settings on your existing drive to see if its M, S or CS (master, slave or cable-select) and replicate this on your new drive.
