As a movie fan I was wondering what were the best films of 2008 people watched, wether it was at the cinema or on DVD. I'm a DVD person myself and a buyer opposed to a renter.

Anyway I'll get the ball rolling, my top three were.......

The Dark Knight - Very good film that wasn't quite as good as the critics made it out to be. Would love to see it in I-MAX though.

No Country For Old Men - Not the type of film I thought I'd enjoy but IMO was superb, although I'm not too sure whether it was released at the end of '07 or the beginning of '08 on DVD

Wanted - Probably the best film I saw last year as it ticked most of the boxes, I know its super far-fetched but it doesn't use up too many brain cells - just the way I like them!

Has anyone watched The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Crawford? I've been meaning to watch it for a while now but I always find something else to watch, plus its a long film and I've been led to believe it drags its arse a bit.

best film of 08 for me was richard gere in the flock ,

excelent well written , and finaly a film where gere takes the lead charecter seriously , instead of usualy floating through on his Leading man looks.

Gere's best role by far is as the crooked cop in Internal Affairs. What a nasty bastard!! Other than that he mainly looks as if he is still missing a hamster in most of his past films.

Taken is released on DVD within the next couple of weeks so it may well be worth a look. I've heard of The Flock but don't know a great deal about it as I'm not the biggest Gere fan, maybe an IMDB job methinks. The same goes for Internal Affairs although I thought that was a subtitled film, possibly John Woo.

Talking about film stars I'm not the biggest fan of - Kevin Costner. Never liked him and his films are generally on for far too long but he struck gold last year with Mr Brooks which deserves a honourable mention. And the best thing about the film - William Hurt totally outacted him and stole the show.

That choice of film surprised me actually (even though I don't know you), I expected you to have gone for The Dark Knight, Iron Man or possibly the new Hulk film with you being a superhero fan.

Just a quicky, I picked up an immaculate copy of In Bruges today for £1.75 - bargain! Shame I already have the film but hey, nice birthday present for some body.

There was an Internal Affairs based in Hong Kong, 3 in fact although not directed by Woo.

They were actually the films which The Departed was based on.

the flock is good dave ,makes you sick to think of what really goes on in this world.

This Internal Affairs is set in L.A i think. Gere: very bad cop, Penn: unsure bad cop, Garcia: internal affairs good cop.
