I heard when he's undisputed heavyweight champ (his prediction, not mine) he wants to turn his hand to MMA.

I would have said no chance, but if an entertainment wrestler can do it, why not a boxer. With the right training of course.

I do like the lad, so good luck to him

I think he's a good bloke too. The Heavyweight division will suit him alot more than the lower divisions in which he has become Champion. He had to lose a lot of natural weight, suffering dehydration much more than your average boxer, not easy for any bloke his size.

Plus, there hasn't been a particular influx of top class Heavyweights from these shores recently, has there?

Audrey & Co.......anybody?

I like him but where is the quality in this division at the moment?
My ignorance is about to be proved.

your ignorance maybe discussed in a future thread stevie boy,but for now we'll stick with monsieur haye.
i thought he put in a promising display to say the least, harry questioned his ability to take a shot, well he went down off one but seemed o.k ,looked a bit upset with himself though and i thought it made him more determined to finish the job.
he was very respectful post fight also and not a hint of a canadian accent.

To be fair lesnar was a legit MMA fighter long before he worked for the WWE, and i doubt he'll ever be a top line MMA fighter. Obviously he's the UFC champ but Mir or Gonanza will give him a much sterner test and will probably end victorius.

"Lesnar was a legit MMA fighter"
have a word wth yourself
being a top college wrestler is a decent starting point, but it doesn't make you an MMA fighter.

There was a period in early UFC where wrestlers had a dominant period (Severn, Coleman, Randleman, Kerr and even Couture) but that was short lived and the submission fighters and strikers learned to counter a lot of the wrestler tools.

I was routing for Randy and it pretty much fucked my weekend when he lost, but fair play to Lesnar, he asked to be put up against the best and he's done the job.
my gut feeling is Nogueria will beat Mir and go on to beat Lesnar in the spring.
Randy will get a Gonzaga rematch and the winner (Randy I hope) will get Nogueria in the summer.
around the same time Lesnar will get a big striker like Cheick Kongo or Shane Carwin UNLESS UFC can finally secure Fedors services, then they've all got problems.

Yep Haye did well last night. Did the job he needed to, outpointed the giat, and caught him with a bomb in the last round that had him wobbling....oh how i'd have loved to see him KO'ed!

John Ruiz next, who he should see off, then either o fthe Klitschkos. Exciting times! 8)
