What else do you do ?
So, when you are not Redding up them Reds, Barring the Barcrests, zooming in on the 'Zoomas, showing your Bell at Beardy etc, do you have any other stuff that you do well ?
I am a professional violinist. Have been since leaving music college in the early 90's. I am currently the leader for the Leicester Symphony Orchestra and we have a string quartet that's out playing regularly at peoples weddings/birthdays/functions etc.
The string quartet stuff is cool, it's hit and run money - you can charge £120 per player for a 2 hour gig - I know that's on a par with a good session on the fruits, but the difference is a mile wide as it's guaranteed money, and a hell of a lot more fun earning it.
I also like showing Joe Public that string quartet players are not just stuck up snobs on the wrong side of 50 who only play Mozart and drink cream teas. I'm also a composer and arranger so do a lot for the quartet to make our sets different from anywhere else in the country. It's great to see peoples heads turn in a wedding, when we start playing stuff like Abba, Broadway hits like All that Jazz, Moondance with improvisation, Mustang Sally, Beatles stuff - they just expect you to play serious stuff all the time. Also done an arrangement of the Simpsons theme which has been performed in a festival in Switzerland and an orchestral arrangement of Aerosmith's I don't wanna miss a Thing from Armageddon that's been performed in the Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham.
Been on a few tours in my time - played with Divine Comedy, done backings in the studio for a band called Crazy P and err...for my sins when I was a student did a UK tour with err...Chris de Burgh...hey, I needed the money - but JEEZUZ how many middle aged housewives prepared to throw their pre-menopausal knickers on stage ..eeeewwww.
I also conduct for the Arts service in Leicester, doing 3 concerts with an orchestra a year, and play in most of the show pits in and around Leicester, doing 2 back to back Jekyll and Hydes starting end of this month.

aaa - same here! Which Trust, may I ask? I'm at one that covers Bexley, Bromley & Greenwich - all good fun! Information Analyst is my role, and it's not too bad at all. Plenty of time to spend on FC...
Outside of work, I enjoy programming games and small applications, writing music and attempting some short stories. Also bowl in a weekly league, which we have topped three seasons, finished 2nd once and 3rd once.
Of course, young Charlie (my little 8 month year) has somewhat quelled my ability to spend time on my hobbies, but I still find the odd half-hour of peace and quiet now and then...

Lol @ Betch ... fook all groupies in my game mate. Most of them are over 50. Our string quartet does very well at an average age of 36., and I'd only shag one of them and that's the missus, who plays the viola in our quartet.

There you go Midlanders, if you see a bloke dressed in spandex with a cape on, apprehending scallys, you know who it is.
My occupation is normally Storeperson/Manager/Supervisor, but I'm still in between jobs at the moment.
Outside of work my non-gambling interests include playing pool to a pretty consistant high standard, playing video games and watching movies - always looking to expand my ever increasing DVD collection (within my limited budget).
I'm also a very good at drawing, mainly free hand pencil work with the odd watercolour thrown in too. Funnily enough, I enjoy drawing various Superheroes, any decent cartoony/graphic picture I can replicate to a tee, and my next venture is to try a cool Hellboy in either oil or acrylic on canvas.....which will be a new a experience.
Plus, my daughter takes up a hell of alot of my attention and time too, as will number 2 when he makes an appearence at the end of November.
