Vegas

Post by kidgloves »

Off to Vegas in just under 2 weeks. Have opened up a Nationwide debit card account to take advantage of lower/no fees whilst using the atm's over there.
Does anybody know about chip and pin over there ? I have a feeling our system isn't compatible over there.
Can they swipe normally (like the old days instead?)
Don't want to have to take loads of cash out to pay for an excursion/show then be up to the daily limit on the card and have no more available funds.
Going to take some hard cash as back up but don't really want to be carrying around too much.
Anybody got any experience ?

atm at exchange rate. you will probably pay a premium so make few transactions. good luck, don't gamble what you can't afford to lose.

also dress well. a collar is a must. if you can fool the walkers you can get the free keyrings. and vouchers for a steak.

take the time to play free games like crazy golf, it is more fun than hard-nosed gambling.

It'll probably be the old fashioned swipe & sign. But you need to have photographic ID with you when you use a credit card. Not sure of the rules on a debit card.I'd recommend the reastaurant at the top of the Stratosphere to spoil the missus!! 5 star service for 3 star prices.

No chip and pin. Most stores require a look at your passport. Cheapest cash in the Ballagio machines beleave it or not.

Tonys on Freemont street steak buffet...dogs bollocks. Wed Sun.

Do the Voodoo lounge and Ghost bar. And the night club rain.

Get a cab to the shopping mall Pass the MGM, ($10) massive outlet place.

Deuce bus $5 dollars 24hrs. Freemont street is included. Don't forget to see the light show.

Half price show ticket offices. bit of a wait but it saves a fortune.

Enjoy

easy kid if you dont want to carry too much cash, might i suggest pre-paid american express cards, you can stick up to 3k stirling on each, ,,,, get your money straight back if there pinched ,,,,,,,,,, and you would be hard pressed to find anywhere over there that dont take it,,,,,, works exactly like a debit card ,,,, no charges, free to get one from any change bureau, free cash back from anywhere you use it so no need to use an atm,,,, (in fact the only way you can get any form of small charge is in an atm) simple :P

when i went america for a month it was all i used, every where gives you cashback, piece of piss
