I've turned into a bit of a money hoarder. I get worried nowdays when i've got less than £1,500 in the bank! Stems from having no money at uni i think, now i've got a bit i just make sure i keep hold of it! I know plenty of mates who are hopeless and fritter their money away all the time though. Persist with it, and don't let it burn a hole in your pocket!

One more thing, next time you get hold of a chunk of cash, get yourself down to Asda, you can buy 54 Cans of Boddingtons (or any beer just about) for just £20

Think of that next time you approach a gamble waving a £20 note :)

Keep the faith

I tend to back horse's more than play the fruit's.You seem to be "chasing" all the time.

I think nothing to putting £50 - £60 on a horse. Great if it come's in but on the other hand,it's well more than a day's wage's for me.

Time to get a grip i think and try save some coin for the festive period.

I think im off to the Asda then MJ :P

Drown my sorrow's and all that shit...

I steer clear of the horses nowadays, but it wasn't so long ago that I'd be betting through the day and heading off to the dog track in the evening. Where, of course, they also have fruities. Double trouble!

The bet I used to love which really helped get me away from the big-spending was to do reverse forecast doubles down the card at a dog meeting, meaning I could have an interest in every race but only spend a tiny amount (ie. £1.12 at a time) with the chance of a really decent return if a few 1-2 results came in; especially at tracks like Wimbledon where the first bend is a killer.

This sort of thing kept me occupied for the same length of time but weened me off the big outlays; and eventually I got bored and started to 'forget' to place the bets. Now I restrict myself to a £1 accumulator on the weekend footie coupon and I have no other reason to wander into the bookies.

There are ways to keep an interest and not spend so much. Persevere.

Same for me really.

I aquired some money earlier this year, and i've just lived a cosy life instead of saving it for when i get to uni next year, which i know i'm going to regret.

Proper

Won about £250,000 playing fruit machines
won about £20,000 at Poker
won about £10,000 on SWP's.

lost about £100,000 on horses
lost about £400,000 on roulette/blackjack
lost about £10,000 playing 3 card brag.

Money means little to me (except when skint)

ps Don't say give up roulette (I know that already)

F*ck me H, that puts you £230k in the red!

My missus frets when a bills a day overdue.

No doubt you're paying it back at £20/month via an IVA.

Shame more people aren't as honest as you though.

Fair play to you for your honesty Harry.

Just out of interest, what do you gamble on now?

Refreshing honesty - I had no idea you were an SWP streaker as well Harry. The thing about roulette......no, sorry, you said not to say that.

I made my SWP money on Give Us A Break, only about 500 questions in those days.
