Your Samsung wasn't a U600 was it, cause thats a proper pain in the arrias to get unlocked. Two failed attempts via ebay, took it to the market and it cost a tenner.

Sh*t phone aswell too fiddly and touch sensitive, gave it to my other half and got a SE W880i, much happier indeed :D

Order your phone from Finland. It is illegal by law to sell locked phones there.

The nokia 6300 has enhanced security on unlocking, which network is it? generally speaking the only way to get these done is by calling up customer services and asking them to do it. Get a story right first, eg:"I use your SIM all the time, but have a Vodaphone SIM for work which I want to check once in a while" or some other shit; they may ask a fee. if you dont have a contract with the provider that locked it anymore, or you're pay as you go etc, get someone who DOES have an expensive contract with them to make the call. If you pay enough you can probably avoid a fee as well by guilt tripping them over 'ive been with you years, and im worth £XXX every month to you and you cant just unlock a phone?!' yadda yadda yadda

Or you could buy the hardware yourself  bargain at £3,700!

thanks TO
i've been with the same people for 8 years and i only pay £15-£18 a month so my custom is not worth any money to them.
originally it was with O2 but the company got bought out by vodafone. so i pay vodafone but i demanded to stay on the o2 network due to british ownership.
anyway i don't really need this upgrade but a friend said that i might as well. i am totally ignorant about phones so i hoped there might be a magic wand online somewhere.

Used to be uber-easy not so these days, especially with Nokia. If you have been with them 8 years, they should do it free of charge, no real skin of their nose if you still have a contract with them. I have got a LOT out of O2 in the past, recently too.
