shocking!

poor reffing decisions like that cost teams points and he basically ruined a good game of football.

do refs actually get punished for such mistakes like that or will it be a collective arse covering from the refs association

It is shocking mate. I thought they were supposed to be clamping down on 'simulation', not rewarding it! If Mr Styles had any bollocks he'd have explained himself post-match and told us all why he claimed to show JT the yellow card then show it him again (to clarify) whilst Essien and Ben Haim were stood in front of him, both of whom were on yellow cards btw, now that is covering ones arse.

The problem with refs is since they became professional they all think they are the stars, the celebs. Whats needed is fresh blood, refs who know the game, not just the rulebook. What would be funny is seeing some 'know-it-all' pundit give it a go, he'd last 10 minutes at the most. :)

Terrible decision. What made it worse was that he was stood in just about the best possible position to see and he still got it wrong.

Chelsea looked very poor yesterday and with Man U's slow start maybe it could be a 4 horse race this year after all. Liverpool and Arsenal look better than last year and should close the gap this season.

one thing that really irks me is that Refs seem to be beyond any meaningful criticism.

a manager criticises a refs game saying how he was blatently inept at doing his job and you get hauled over the coals by the FA for bringing the game into disrepute?!

they get protected far too much - they should be required to be interviewed straight after the game to explain their decisions and like Gerrard said - if they hold their hands up and admit they made a mistake they'd get alot more respect from players and fans

the best refs are virtually invisible during a match. Its about the two teams, the manager and players not the Ref

if they are still showing it on the news have a listen to mourinio, on radio one i heard audio of him saying "liverpool were better first half, chelsea were better second half and that was a CLEAR penalty"

Stupid.. Isn't football a great sport..

Seemingly Rugby league is following Suit.. Bradford Bulls APPARANTLY scored the winning try, and kicked the winning goal, then the referee scrubbed it out saying it was full time...................... EH?

I see Moan-inio / Maureen / All the other names, is back to his nonsensical natterings...

I think I'd be too embarrased to say that I was 'ushering John Terry away' with that second flash of the yellow card.

Anyone having any pennies on the Internationals this week?

We do a premiership scoring quiz for each game at the office, 1 point for the correct result, 1 point for the correct score. £20 from each of the losing players come the end of the season. I ended up with a nice £140 last season, and have started off with a good surge (unlike my team!!) this time too... ;)
