After ten years of New Labour, how do you rate the PM.

Tried to add a poll

Despite me creating the poll, I didn't really create an option that suits me!

To be fair, he has done some good - the minimum wage, devolution and especially the peace process in NI (having grown up there during the troubles, I never thought I'd see Sinn Fein and Iain Paisley in the same building, let alone sharing a joke).

But on the other hand, his tenure has been as tainted by corruption as the previous Tory regime... Ecclestone, Murdoch, cash for passports, cash for honours etc..

Which leads me onto the war in Iraq and Afghanistan - I think I've made my feelings known on this matter quite a few times, suffice to say that there is more than enough evidence to charge both Bush and Blair for war crimes, not that that is likely to happen.

And being in power for so long makes you unbelievably complacent and arrogant. Witness his quote from just before the elections "Forget about Iraq. Concentrate on Scottish issues" - which is akin to saying "Forget about illegally invading a foreign country and killing 650,000+ innocent civilians, I made the buses run on time".

So to sum up, glad to see the back of him, although I've no doubt that when Brown takes over, things will be exactly the same.

kind of agree with you there card, although at times yes he amy have been a puppet to bush but he has also shown a number of times that he is not spineless and he is a man who sticks by his judgements, id say it would be worse to have someone in charge of one of the most powerful nations on earth that at the slightest bit of critisism or jeering would change his position.

it may seem like a far fetched dream but if blair can have an effect on the Irish peace process then there is maybe even a chance that Iraq someday will be able to live in peave without fear of terror which no one can deny was happening, yes they may have had the modern amenities that they are now lacking but living a life of constant threat for any wrong doing is far worse.

brown is going to be a joke from the offset hes all talk and i doubt of any action, hes good with the numbers but can he steer a mighty nation....

poll

There does come a point when sticking by your judgement isn't a good thing - IE, when it is shown to be wrong. At that point you should say "Ah, sorry, let me fix things as best I can." This has not been the case. Remember the difference between a scientist and a politician? ;)

I'm sure he would liked to be remembed for Ireland, minimum wage, etc. Just as Neville Chamberlain would like to be remembered for anything but the appeasment policy with Nazi Germany. ;)
