The squares are the same colour. If you use MS Paint or something similar, you can see this.

Think it's because A is surrounded by light squares and the white outside, whereas B is surrounded by the dark squares, all messes with ya eye.

Seen this before, I remember a site with loads of these eye-fooling oddities...
Just proves how much our brown 'fills-in' what our eyes don't really see...

Saw this years back, one of the most impressive optical illusions I've seen, and yeah, it's to do with the surrounding squares and the perception of what the colour should be like in teh shadow

Ah, I can never remember the exact answer to this one, but I think it has to do with the second pic actually taking up slightly more space than the previous one - it's most obvious on the blue triangle on the second, five squares from the left.
Also, if you do the maths:
Green == 7
Yellow == 8
Red == (5 * 2) / 2 == 5
Blue == (8 * 3) / 2 == 12
Total == 32
BUT
Entire triangle == (13 * 5) / 2 == 32.5

Heh, seen this one too, it seems to throw the mathematical calculation of 'area' right out the window.
