Last night was my last play on a machine

I've simply had enough. I don't have my fingers on enough of the right pulses, and i don't play machines enough now to get a good idea of gameplay. I've become one of those guys that can put £20-30 into a BFU, recycle my £8-9 win and be pissed off that I didn't get anywhere near the Jackpot. I prefer the good old Andy Capp days, where you could just be an 8 away from a Jackpot (Each Way Bet anyone?).
Now you've got to catch a machine just at the right time, or you're going to invariably lose. Club machines aren't much better now either. The number of Global Pontoon Club and clones about is unreal, with 1 Jackpot every £10000 or so worth of plays, no real chance of decent money off a feature....
And I bet i'm not alone on this forum. I've realised now that there is a slight addiction creeping in there - if i've got a few coins I might as well stick them in, I might fluke the £250 - then that leads to changing a £20 because the machine is full.... I bet there's plenty of folk out there that go down this road. I've not got the self control to limit myself, so that's it, I quit!!
There used to be enjoyment in playing them, and being able to accept a small loss was easy. Now, I just feel i'm throwing good money after bad, and being a student I simply can't afford it. I ended up £40 down last night, and that's enough for me.
I've become increasingly interested in Poker, and i'm considering channeling my efforts into that - there's a damn sight more skill in Poker than hitting the start button.
Dare say I may drop into the site now and then, see what's fresh. But as for playing machines, last night was the straw that broke the camels back. I'm tired of filling them up for people who are 'in the know' on certain things to take my money, at least at the Poker table if I lose, I know that i'll have lost because a better hand beat mine, not because some guy just took £120 out yesterday, and the bookie refills every morning.
Ok rant over.
