Absolutely gutted to hear Paul has died at the age of 27. Watched him play a few times, and was a massive fan of his snooker and sportsmanship when playing.

Very sad, he was only 27. They say the good die young.

he was very gentlemanly around the table so i admired him more than those who moan and mither about everything; like peter bloody ebdon and mark bloody j bloody williams. i was also sad to hear when bill werbenuik died, that guy was phenomenal.
i read the obituary this morning, turns out paul hunter was only two days older than me. makes you think.

great player. future world champion without doubt. r.i.p

Very sad and shocked to hear about this. he was one of the greatest, and played the game in great spirit.

I played pool with him back in 2001 in a pub down in Norfolk, he was a great bloke and very down to earth!

Shit when i saw the title i thought nah it can't be him. What happenened to him?

he was battling Cancer, and he came back to play again after a lengthy amount of time off. remarkable Person.

Just watched a tribute on youtube, very sad

Yeah it's mad. I remember writing that thread and feeling pretty bad he'd passed away so young. An early tragic loss of talent that's for sure.

Paul dominated the Masters tournament for a while which showcased his snooker talent to me.

Not sure if he would have ever been a world champion but was always near the final stages of the world and other tournaments (so many robots playing who don't miss a ball nowadays, hard to predict which new players will win the world, Shawn Murphy was a shock winner to me, usually O'Sullivan, Higgins e.t.c are the safe bets).

He certainly had the bottle to become World Champion.

Same has been said about Matthew Stevens, Ding Junhui and others. Paul definately had the game to do it like others, but it is like spinning a roulette wheel nowadays and pick a number with the number of players capable of winning the world.

First they have to get through O'Sullivan, Hendry, e.t.c (who win it regularly) in the longer frame matches which is a trial in itself. who would have thought Jimmy White could reach 6 finals, be leading in a few of the final seesions only to end up the greatest player never to win the world.

Matthew Stevens will never win it IMO, can't use the rest for a start and not good enough either (saying that if Graeme Dott can win it then anyone can)

Hendry is past his best and will never become Hendry the 8th i don't think.

Ding has got a chance but has not done much since showing early promise, and i don't think he's recovered from when Ronnie annihilated him that time.

Jimmy is nearly ready to fall of the tour but has had a few decent victories of late.

And Ronnie should win the World every time he participates but beats his self half the time.

My mate did a streak at the crucible and paul was pissin his sen cos my mate went up to him and said"we are leeds!"He did it with a sven goran erickson mask on and actually found his way onto the x-box world snooker game.What a laugh that was!
