Annoying neighbours!

Post by Glendale »

I have to go in front of a enviromental noise officer this week as my neighbours reckon we play loud musuc late at night! This is a lie as my wife only has music on low in the afternoon! When i get in after machines its usually late so its sky sports news for an hour with a vodka to unwind then bed! Most noise is from there screaming baby and the brat boy who keeps kicking a football against my fence! Any advice on what to do that doesnt involve violence?

Go to a charity shop, buy a viz annual, cut out one of the strips featuring the character Meddlesome Ratbag. Go to the poundshop, buy a cheapo a4 picture frame, put the two together and hand it to your neighbour as a gift with a bury-the-hatchet gesture.
nobody ever wins on those things.

As far as I am aware the authorities can't take legal action against people for noise nuisance simply on their neighbours say-so. If they are taking action against you one of their officers must have witnessed it or they install equipment to record and measure it. If you have not been causing a noise nuisance you don't really have anything to worry about. :|

My neighbours are funny one is a piss head with a massive dog every day he stumbles up the street with drop crotch jeans (not the style just way to big.) Slams his door open then falls asleep leaves house wide open. I give him half a litre of whisky to park my uncles golf on the drive due to no tax. other neighbours are oap's and feed the birds and no word of a lie must be hundreds. When I was a kid I used to hang out window with bb gun lol. We used to have a swimming pool, we let water out and she come marching to the door saying respect the birds and all this bollocks apparently we were polluting them or infecting them due to water. Oh and if we or visitors park past the hedge they tend to come out and complain they have had some funny words shouted over and hand signals that are probably alien to them. I'm making it sound like a shit hole lol.

Well owning your own house doesn't give the you the right to cause a nuisance to your neighbours. There are numerous actions the authorities can take against nuisance neighbours such court orders, asbos, confiscation of equipment. In extreme cases you can be thrown in jail for defying court orders and people guilty of harassment have been banned from living in their own houses.

Well if there is no noise you shouldn't have anything to worry about. If they have asked to speak to you and there is no evidence they will probably just explain to you what they are alleging and ask for your response. And will probably try to persuade you to try and smooth things over with your neighbours.

i've had a noise a-baitment notice before for washing my car and having the radio on.!! now this was standard speakers and standard stereo.

every sunday i would wash the car, and low and behold i got the notice one morning before work from the council, and i later found out it was a complaint from a neighbour 4 doors down. at the time i had a big detatched house and it was no where near were the dickhead that complained lived

he actually grassed himself up, long story. but needless to say he had a few problems after, and i didnt do anything to him..

the thing is if they have diary of events, when its been happening, they can have you. I got threatened with a £2.5k fine, or possible 6 month imprisonment or both, now i dont mind prison, but £2.5k is a joke. lol

Its all about human rights bollocks these days, whats up with them saying. "look, can you just keep the music down a bit?!?" instead of getting all formal with letters and threats from the council.

my only advice would be play it carefully, and what ever you do, by way of responding make sure you do it by recorded delivery, as sometimes they can go to court, and get an "entry order" to remove your equipment ect.
