ok by now , most of you should have received this through the post.

firstly could someone clarify if the data collected is used for any other purpose than the head count/ harmless statistical analysis etc etc

or is the data shared with other government bodies , such as the benefits agency etc ?

the reason i ask ,,,,,,, is that for people in my position ,,,,,,,,, there could be a bit of a dilemma when filling it in .

it asks about your employment details

so there's three choices ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, do you

A, tell the truth ,,,,,,,,,,,,, put professional gambler as your profession ,,,,,,,,, and hope this information isn't shared with other bodies that may cast a suspicions eye , and send you further forms . ,,,,,,,,,,,,, bearing in mind , i personally haven't signed on for 15 years or so ,,,,, are they going to think your really a drug dealer or ,,,,, want you to prove how you have supported yourself all this time etc ? ,,,,,,,,, maybe im just paranoid lol ?

B, dont fill it in ,,,,,,,,,,,, this could lead to prosecution ,,,,,,,, and may look like an admission of guilt that you are up to something dodgy.

c, go down the living with parents and they have supported me all this time route?

im only asking as im 95% siding with A ,,,,,,,,, just curious to what others are planning .

theres no need to answer , comment or contribute to this thread if you do sign on jsa etc ,,,,,,,, because it then isn't an issue filling in the form explaining how you support yourself .

i may be being paranoid ,,,,,,,,,,, but a few of us could probably do with a little advice on this???

all help appreciated .

lee.

How is the information from the Census used?

Once all the Census data has been collected and analysed it is outputted in a number of different formats (a description of these are covered later). This data can then be used by Central and Local Government, Health Authorities and other organisations to target resources effectively, plan for housing, transport and health services for the future. Census data is also used by private companies, students and local people, looking at trends in areas of interest.

In what formats is the Census available?

There are a number of different data sets available including;
Key Statistics – statistics based on a single theme e.g. KS09C Economic Activity – “Females Aged 16 to 74”.
Standard Tables – these are designed to be compatible with results produced throughout the UK and are usually made up of a combination of data e.g. table S029 “Sex and Age by Hours Worked”.
Theme Tables – these are tables that bring together a range of results on a particular population, such as dependent children.
Census Area Statistics (CAS tables) – these tables compare a range of different data e.g. CAS01 “Age by Sex and Type of Resident”, as well as household, economic and other lifestyle data.
Census Area Statistics (Univariate Tables) – these are single theme tables with good breakdowns of the data e.g. UV04 “Age”, has age as single years.

1. There is no specific clause saying what it cannot be used for, so assume the worst.

2. Put self-employed. Your earnings are non taxable as gambling winnings.

3. If you are worried what the law will think, tip off the local police about what you are doing beforehand. Pay an accountant to file tax returns for you and be legitimate.

4. If you wonder if the police are investigating you, send a DSAR (Data Subject Access Request) to your local police authority. By law they have to disclose all data they hold on you.

Fill it in, and take some proactive steps if you are concerned about being classed as a drug dealer. Then you will have no problems in the future.

appreciated mr mogu m8

so they can share with other government bodies then ,,,,,,,,,,, just as i suspected ,,,,,,,,, suspect the worst indeed lol

i have ticked the self employed/freelance option ,,,,,,,,,, but then it asks what you call your job title , and to briefly describe what you do,,,,,,,,, so i have put ''professional gambler'' and ''i play gambling machines for a living''

my theory (could be wrong this time lol) is that honesty is probably the best policy ,,,,,,, didn't want to lie ,,,,, and then maybe be investigated further and have to back the lie up with more lies.

would still appreciate hearing from people with similar circumstances to myself though .
on their views ,,,, and what they are planning to put??????

The government have about as much chance of me filling out the census as they have getting a blow-job off the Queen.

Census, it's all about the government prying into our lives, and threatening court action to anyone who refuses to comply. Basically it's about being controlled by the government.

Fuck them. I'm not into being controlled.

I think unemployed not claiming benefit is the best option personally. If they want to take it further then good, but ultimately unlucky for them.

Just think putting professional gambler is a huge flag up to give unwanted aggro.

Those of us who have had police issues like myself and Lee should have no problems anyway, our activities will be on file.

Lol there's tens of millions of these things floating about ,by the time they've collated all that data it will be time for the next census.

Not sure exactly how it could be enforced if people boycott enmasse either.

For the record I've all ready done mine if there any government spybots trawling the forums . They do seem particularly interested in your sexual orientation this time aswell!

Why on earth wouldn't you just save youself all the aggro Lee and just sign on or whatever? Any information collected by government agencies will be used in the dirtiest ways imaginable and probably worse! I hate people who buy into all this media propaganda that anyone needing state support are spongers etc, everyones circumstances are different and it would help you more just to claim something and then you would be left alone mate. I am not saying you need the support at all here Lee, but just that it would make life easier for you! I have nearly had enough of all this working shite to have nothing left in your pocket by the time the government have bent you over.

i dont sign on ,,,,,,,, because im NOT actively seeking employment stevie m8 ,,,,,, so i dont deserve it ,,,,,,,,,

i know what your saying though .

life would have been easier and ''big brother nosey parker free'' if i had been signing on for the last 15 years + and simply donating it to charity .

but alas .

im sure it wont matter though ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, they'll probably be lots of people putting ''pro gambler '' ,,,,,,,,,,, tax dodgers ,drug dealers , shady business men etc . lol

I filled mine in over a week ago now, if i remember rightly a few questions went like this.

Are you working? No

Are you claiming benefits? No

Could you start work in the next 7 days? No

Bit of a contradiction with the last question i thought, yes, technically i could start work, but don't want or need too. thats what i put so we'll see what they say.

I don't mind the employment question, but there is a lot on the form that I don't agree with.

For example:

H4. Who is staying in my house on precisely 27th March 2011? What the hell man. If I wrote "no-one", then I miraculously pulled a 1-night stand, or I had a relative/mate who had to stay at mine at short notice, I have now lied on the form, haven't I? And this is a form that is apparently meant to be followed and completed accurately by law.

H9 & H10. How many rooms? How many bedrooms? Erm.. this isn't a council tax questionnaire. I am band A, thank you very much :-) But again fair do's if they don't have access to banding info, although I know a few web sites that can look it up.

1. It asks for my name again (person 1 on page 3 / H3). Erm, my name hasn't changed lol.

5. Do I stay at another address for more than 30 days a year? I guess I go back to my parents a few weekends every year but why do they wanna know that?

13. My health? Very good / good / fair / bad / very bad? This is getting ridiculous.

20. What is your religion? This question is voluntary. Yay, we're privileged :-D

23. Are your day-to-day activities limited because of health / disability? Disability living allowance form anyone?

I did complete the form, but did anyone else think that this was a bit OTT?
