I would only leave if you had another job to go, otherwise the redundancy wont last long.

Too right ,plus there's always the chance of complacency with a bit of money behind you.

When I packed my job in and moved about 18 months ago ,I thought I'd be able to walk straight into a decent job,lol,I went through most of my savings before I swallowed my pride and took a lower paid job till I found something more suitable.

It very much depends on your age, who you work for and how stable your company are. You have to think very carefully because if you reject voluntary redundancy and later get mandatory redundancy you could potentially end up with a smaller pot. You need to go into more detail to get a better understanding of your realistic options because your question can't have a close to accurate answer otherwise.

you get a months pay for every year, and all those under 23K get a months pay at 23K. Pretty good of them really. A lot of my colleagues are going for it.

Absolutely go for it then. Shouldnt be too hard to secure something with equal or greater pay. Good luck.
