I regularly have Madras currys, and sometimes a vindaloo.

Have been known to eat a Phal.. The local indian restaurnt sometimes has a competition - eat the whole thing withought a drink and you dont have to pay, plus they give you two beer vouchers for afterwards. Done it once, and failed twice!

Nice and hot for me!

Fave is Chicken Bhuna, which is about medium. Don't mind Madras, Jalfrezi and all that either. :D

Can't really stand any mild creamy and yoghurty ones. Korma, Masala, Makhani and Pasanda are just shite really. Curry for girls!

I ordered the Spoons vindaloo once. The barman said are you sure?

It was like baby food compared to a real curry house. But I can't do a vindaloo or fall from a proper curry house. :o ops: :o ops: :o ops: :o ops: :o ops: :o ops: :o ops: :o ops: :o ops: Far too hot!

Dupiaza is quite nice, I likes me onions! ;)

Although in the curry house near me there is an excellent 'special' (can't remember the name at all!) which is most definitely my fave. Fried Onions / Peppers in a lovely dry hot sauce... :)

Vindaloo - standard.

Just about the right level of heat, madras isn't usually hot enough in my experience. Have done the phal a few times, the king prawn version isn't to be taken lightly! Anyone caught ordering a korma in a curry house should be marched round the back and slapped repeatedly round the chops with a big wet fish. If I leave the restaurant without a bright red face, a shirt drenched in sweat and lips like Leslie Ash after her botched collagen op, I generally feel quite disappointed!

Quick tip for all you hot curry fans, if you want an obscenely hot curry, be as loud, drunk & obnoxious to the waiters as possible. I have tasted Jalfrezis & madrases ordered by pissed-up mates that have been bordering on inedible!

Whilst in Bombay in March, I ordered the hottest curry I've ever tasted - a chicken lababda.

Even the waiter said 'I have to warn you sir this one is very hot' - and he wasn't wrong.

Back in England and having been to a few more curry houses, it's clear that we get served second-rate mild nonsense that isn't even cooked in the traditional Indian way.

Has anyone ever sampled the infamous Viz 'curry hell' dish from the Rupali restaurant in Newcastle?

I've heard it is horrifically hot, if you can eat the lot you don't have to pay. Rumour has it that it's never been done!

Speaking to a couple of indians and they don't usually have hot currys in everyday eating.

I usually have a sizzling chicken (not hot) or a keema medium or madras curry. Keema nan breads are also nice and keema pilau rice

That's fine debz - It's just men who eat korma who should be ashamed :P

Curry up north is so cheap compared to down here. I used to get 2 Onion Bhajis, Poppadom, Chicken Bhuna and Pilau Rice for £5! :D Back in Cambridge it's £7-£8 for the same meal. Damn the high prices in the south!
