Apart from sports, music and gambling, it's also my other main interest (the weather). If i didn't do a sports degree, meteorology was my next choice!
ops:
The storms are caused by lots of 'heat lows' forming over Europe. The intense heatwave actually creates low pressure with enough ground heating, which then in turn makes the storms brew.
If you are worried about the heat here, it'll be gone by the weekend. Wet and windier weather will sweep in soon. Another point is the summer of 1976. Anyone here old enough to remember that one? The June/July combination of 2006 is going to end up hotter than 1976. Who'd have thought it!

I managed to get my game of golf in too. Blinding round in the hot sun. 4 pars, and round in 93. Very happy today!
