Cheeky git, asked the ref when he had scored eight points what the prize for a 147 was, told there wasn't one, just £4000 for the highest break, and stopped on 140 before the ref persuaded him to pot the final black.

Amazing!!! He is just unreal when he wants it, i'd have thought he would've wanted it just for the prestige of having ten maximums compared to Hendrys nine.

And fuck me did he spank that final Black in, totally care free, most pro players would have been shaking like a leaf, there will never be another Ronnie!

Yep, I wonder if he'd have been going round the angles up the baulk for those final two reds if £147,000 had been at stake? Probably would have done!

Don't think he had any other choice given the angle he had, the fact there was only £4000 on it for the highest break took a bit of pressure off it i suppose, he is a multi millionaire, still tremendous to watch though.

He told the BBC that it wasn't worth winning £4000 after paying tax, but £25k would have done for a nice holiday !

I guess Ronnie feels the same about 4k as one of us feels like when we get £1.00 from a cashing out on a Star Wars. Just hardly worth it.

My mate told me that Ronnie had a little dig at Barry Hearn after saying he was a tight arse or words to that effect, you can't put this massive money up for a maximum these days because they happen to often, but somewhere inbetween £25000-£50000 seems fair-ish, it is a great achievement after all, its easy to forget this is actually a hard game when you see these top boys play.

Absolute genius but what a fucking tosser he is.

I'd love to know what Mark King was thinking when he asked Jan Verhass what the 147 prize was after potting 2 balls!!!! Let's not kid ourselves - he was always going to pot the black, he just likes to be the centre of attention and if he didn't like being in the spotlight or the game itself he'd have fucked off a long time ago.

I do like the new format though, especially for these 'smaller' tournaments.

Agreed, absolute genius and cnut at the same time. Then again, without Ronnie playing, snooker would be dead by now. Expect the knock on effect that most snooker halls will fold in the current economic situation. Shame , because I love the game.

Darts is the new snooker.

This is just another reason to add to the list to why i have lost respect for him, steming back to when "will he, won't he quit"

Yeah, I'm still smarting from that 2-1 defeat.

Love him or hate him, the man is pure box office, will he clear up Left handed, or will he walk out with the arse?

Sad day when he retires if you ask me.

There's no-one to follow on in the charisma department when Ronnie retires. We've had the "Hurricane" , "Whirlwind" and the "Rocket".

Now the top three are John "The Cheat" Higgins, Ali "The Captain" Carter and Neil "The Thunder From Down Under" Robertson.

Sort of redeamed himself by donating the £4k to charity.
