Looks like the incredibly serendipitous UP is walking away with this.

However, let's not forget the following:

The points increase after each round (for correct teams and scores). There are 10 points available for guessing the correct score in the final. Given that UP has predicted a 99-0 win for England, there is a small chance that he could be hoisted by his own petard, if somebody manages near the top of the table manages to predict the correct score.

It doesn't really matter if England win 1-0 or 99-0 in the final,

I won't be able to show my face on here for a long time :o ops:

I never realised you had to predict the teams as well! Oh well.

How the bloody hell did I make it in to third??? Something is not right there!
Still kicking about.

Oooh. How interesting.

Had a quick scan, and it looks like nobody has managed to predict any of the teams correctly for the 3rd place play-off / final. Except, that is, for yours truly... which means if Italy bring home il bacon on Sunday, it'll be 18 points for me. Which might push me up to 3rd place.

I'm going to calculate the latest scores at lunchtime if nobody has any objections.

Ok * deep breath *

Decided to have a quick check of the scores since Round 1... I only had time to check the first 4 people... one of us is doing something wrong, because all 4 scores worked out differently.

You said that after round 1, the scores were:

UKP 92
NIXXY 87
TKA 80
FADER 78
DEMMERZ 78
JIMMYMAC 69
CARDINAL 66
ADMIN 66
J.A.C 63
CHRISSYB 59

I worked out the following scores for round 2 and QFs.

FADER: 41pts + 24pts
TKA: 39pts + 16pts
JIMMYMAC: 42pts + 31pts
ME : 43pts + 35pts

However, adding this to the scores after Round 1 gives

FADER: 143
TKA: 135
JIMMY: 142
ME: 144

However, you have it down as

FADER 147
JIMMYMAC 146
CARDINAL 137
TKA 128

I can check the rest of them this evening, but have one of us made a rudimentary error with our sums?

--------------------------

And another thing (sorry to drag this on)...

I forgot to predict a 3rd place play-off result. However, I predicted that Germany would lose in the semi-finals to the Italians... now since I didn't predict a score, I obviously can't get points for a winning team or correct score. However, would I be able to have the 8 points for guessing that the Germans would be in the match, since I have them losing in the semi (but obviously haven't specified a 3rd place match).

I was in that frame of mind before I realised I might actually have a chance of winning it. My boss actually created a spreadsheet for all this which predicted all the scores automatically. Wish I'd known that before.

And I would quite happily forego every last penny of the prize money if I could beat UP... however, even cursory calculations reveal him to be the winner.

How does it work? Is it just like normal fantasy football ? Anyone fancy doing it with Scottish divisions 1-3 teams?

there is a forum for it which explains all the rules and last year's results. not sure how it works but you can probably moderate yourself into it.

as for scottish teams all i know is that i needed st johnstone's foil badge to complete panini's football 86 so i hate them. but so long as the players are ginger ninjas i'll pick them.

You were collecting football stickers in 1986? Maybe you're not as old as I thought. Unless you were in your 20s when you were collecting them.

ANyway, I still haven't got round to working out the scores, but I'll try and do it at lunchtime. Although I think I deserve some kudos for predicting Italy were going to win the whole shebang.
