Hmmm thats a tough one. I would give them the bonus points for getting the team through but not score anything for results if they didn't get the right position.
We shoud really sort this before the groups finish but im going on holiday today
If no-one is really against the above we can do it that way ok???

I'm doing this at my work, and I asked the organiser who said that points are awarded for teams progressing to the next stage, regardless of whether you put them in 1st or 2nd place in the group.
You need to have both teams correct to get any bonus points for the correct score in the later rounds... however, the way we are doing it is that you can get these points regardless of which match they actually compete in.
e.g. If you guessed the result of England v Ecuador correctly, you would get all the bonus points available, even if you had England down for 2nd place, and Ecuador 1st place in their respective groups.
Note also that the scores increase further on in the competition..e.g for 1st and 2nd round matches, it's 3 points for guessing the score, but in the QFs, it's 5 points, and the final it's 10 points.
To answer UP's point, if you guessed England v Ecuador to be 2-1 to England, then it doesn't matter whether it goes into extra time or not. Furthermore, if it was 1-1 going into penalties, and England won, then the result would still be counted as 2-1 to England and you would get all the points.
Why didn't we just all draw one team out of a hat and be content with that?

The reason being that anyone who guessed a 1-1 draw in the above example would be getting rewarded in the same way that someone who predicted 2-1 would be, so the people that predicted 2-1 would be getting points for something they didn't predict! Which can't be right as the 2-1 guessers are effectively able to win points on two different results at the end of extra time.

Anyway, what I mean to say was...
.. that's true, but in order for the spreadsheet to work, each match had to have a winner. It explains it at the bottom of the spreadsheet, though not everyone might have seen it. Did anyone actually guess draws for the later rounds?
I'm happy to go with the majority. Unless we start introducing bonus points for members of the French hierarchy, I'm never going to see the business end of the table.

No worries, Cardinal, these things happen!cardinal richelieu wrote:Anyway, what I meant to say was...
My real name is Wendy and I'm a dancer at Stringfellows. In my spare time I enjoy crossdressing and wearing other people's underwear. I recently had an affair with a high-profile member of the shadow cabinet and as a result, I've just opened my very own S+M parlour in Soho..
