Yeeehhaaaaw! I thought so.

Curses. I could have made myself look very clever by actually naming the game of Granny's Garden before yourself. Instead I decided to keep scthuschshuscum, a little voice telling me that it was probably something out of Star Wars and I'd be making myself look stupid by mentioning Granny's Garden at all.

Yes there were three 5.25" discs or levels or spaceships or apples and if we were good, the teacher would let us play Granny's Garden. I never got to level 3. I think that disc was missing or I just wasn't clever enough or we always had PE before I could get to level 3.

I'm so glad we got that out in the open. It had be bothering me ever so slightly.

The only duckling, chick, bird game I can remember is Chuckie Egg.

There are BBC Micro humulators out there. Unfortunately the people who made Granny's Garden (Empire) are not allowing emulation of their game for some sort of reason and legally there's nuffink no one can do about that. As a law abiding person, I have not tried to (unsuccessssfully) search elsewhere for the game.

There were some children. And apples. And stuff.

Other games that I remember on the old BBC Micro were

i) Mr. E - As an 8 year old, the blatant methoblahblahmextrodextraobloopamphetamine (MDbloopMA) reference was lost on me. A clone of some sort of conventional game. I thought it was very colourful and very playable. Used to cause tachycardia and induce a 'high'.

ii) Collosus Chess - A brilliant comedown from Mr. E. The Persian answer to benzodiazepines. For the time an amazingly strong chess alogorithm thingymy.

iii) Citadel - Something to do with that a chicken. Take it to an oven. Over the drawbridge. A bit like Spellbound, but it used to say 'Citadel' in a very computersied voice.

iv) Frak - yeah, this one was ok.

v) Galaxians - Quality.

vi) Hunchback

vii) A mouse game where you had to drop plates and jump over things, a bit tedious at times but very playable.

viii) I can't remember any more. Oh yeah, Elite, but that was never my bag. Thargoid.

ix) Bloop

Don't forget the football manager game, where you didn't get to make transfers or anything, just watch some stickmen sort of float around a screen chasing a square

(Just to clarify that was nothing to do with BBC games. Sorry to digress.)

BBC games? Hmm, Eddie Kidd, is that the 'Kickstart-esque' game you were thinking of? We played that on the emulator in the office last Christmas, on a 'revisit' to the good old days!
