Yeah, a Polo / Golf is a good choice, reasonably fast, and not going to eat your pocket alive with insurance. (like a BM would)

VWs hold their value well also, so at the other end its a more rewarding choice than many others

Not a bad call there pt.....plenty of people have VWs now, and they run like clockwork. 8)

I did say you'd be quoted silly for supercars like that at your age
You can't really blame insurers for prices like that. Just count yourself lucky you ain't Richard Hammond.....he's going to need a lottery win to fund his next car insurance! :D

PT, the company's will not insure you at a good rate until you are at least 25. I can't drive my mums BMW Convertable until im 25, unless you pay the very high premium of course.

But still having a BMW at 18 is rather strange unless you are very wealthy.

My advice would be to go with a smaller car untill you get a few more years experience, and a few years no-claims under your belt. Will save you a lot of cash too.

At 18 you probably think your a very good driver, but you still have a lot to learn.

18 + sports car = early grave.

ps. my first car cost me about £400!! 27 now with a decent job, still not paid over 4k for a car!

All too true unfortunately.

Very nice,

So do you have bags of cash to spare, or is the company swallowing the cost?

bingo :D

Have actually been a bit cheeky with this one. Basically a week ago the company made some major cuts in staffing, i was very fotunate to be one of about a 1/3 of the team kept on. The end result was that there would be a lot of cars about....sooo i just tactfully asked, knowing that mine was due for return :)

Already been said but looking at BMW's etc is a stupid idea until you get a few years no claims. To give you an example of how high insurance is a got at 19 a vauxhall tigra 1.4 (the old shape, newun wasnt invented back then) which is by no means a top sportscar at all!!!! My insurance premium came to £1800 and as it turned out they made a mistake as they were not supposed to insure anyone under 21 on it.

I wish i had never got that and had stuck with my Escort for a few years, cuz at that age i was bound to have a couple of prangs and it would of ben a hell of a lot cheaper.
