london day out

Post by trayhop123 »

just thought i'd write out a long kidgloves/jg essay type of thread on my experience of my london day yesterday, however there wont be any jg bloops in it ,,,,,, damm. any way i wont feel offended if nobody reads it as its bound to be very boring and typical of many a slotters day.

for those of you still with me, ho/hum

as some of you are aware my wife runs a market stall in leicester and also runs a small business on ebay, 90% of which is gold, and so every 3-5 weeks or so i take the scrap to faringdon london ,,

any hows yesterday i left leicester at 6am, early i know but im weary of that 5 mile stretch of roadworks near luton, and dont want to get in too much traffic.
put 30quid in the tank at lfe and the obligatory ginsters .

got to toddington about 7 (missing out newport bogroll as im not going to try to ethan hunt my way over the bridge)
so tried the pointless cluedo lost 5quid for 2pointless boards, and a pointless quid in the hof, which lit up like a christmas tree with a left by the last man pointless 20 quid repeat no chance.... hmmm time to move on.

after the luton roadworks arrived in highgate parked up and walked to tube about 8.30 now and couldn't be arsed to wait till 9.30 for the price cut, so another 8quid down 1to3 travelcard.
so change at kingsx get to faringdon, now roughly 45down,, turn right for spoons hof and g.rush, ,,,, hof make 7,,,, g.rush, not really showing any forceable signs, leaves it evens.
next scrap £3600 in gold, walk to goose for cash attack but switched off loverly prob saved a few quid there in all honesty ,,,, the day not looking good so far but ive got stupidly serious backup cash on me so not worried .
back to the station, and just left of it is a pub with yet another cash attack, pretty dead as expected but managed to scrape a tenner prof,
now then where next, ide heard talk of a legendary unplayerble cluedo in liverpool st spoons, as it was only 4 stops away and wanting a challenge i hopped on the tube.

shock horror signs on the doors about trouble with plumbing meant it wouldn't open till 11am, damm what to do ?. crossed over road down alley found pub called magpie with a g.rush, as soon as i put the first pound in the landlord shouts over " your not a pro are you son, we dont allow pro players in here". fuck thats on top, had to think fast, replied "whats a pro? sheepishly innocent. he said '' people that make a living off those things ",
i replied "oh didnt think that was possible " and after some banter thought ide better change a 50pound note with him for coins (even though i had the lions share of 300 on me grrrrr) , he still wasnt sure of me and gave me 10 1ns stating that was all i was getting
any way he fucked off long enuf for me to put 20 in for 70 out and a few afters , when he came back i thought fuck him and let the lot clatter into the tray , with me scragging the coins as they fell for extra clatter , he wasnt best pleased , drank up headed back to spoons .

now more or less even on the day so far , got in as soon as they opend , spotted the legend , it was offering to my suprise , cost me 34 made a pound , tried a pound in monster cash was jammed up , called manager who very nicely gave me my pound back and switched it off , then put a pound in snakes and pressed changestake which stayed depressed , called manager who very nicely gave me my pound back and switched it off also,,,,,,, time to move on

oxford st next time off to look round the shops walk into ralph lauren and various others , now i know these are the flagship stores designed to catch the yank tourists and that tracey could get anything i wanted at a fraction of the price off ebay , but fuck it , when in rome an all that spent 189 on 3 items ouch damm those alluring fashions then another 40quid on everybody golf on ps3 but i digress , anyone stil here or have you all fell sleep by now , i would have reading this drivell , anyway cant add those cost to the slotting day.

so onto angel tried the chuzzy x but wasnt one in it , prob been tried by a million other players that morning already , then played a shaftme the money and a cpl of vortexs.
its about 3pm now im 13down , and my 36 year old legs have had enuf , so i make my way back to highgate and the long drive home,
on the way decided to avoid gateway , and first stopped at newport bogroll , and unbelievably caught the cluedo offering (cost 20 for 35 so now 2quid up on day) much to the disapointment of a gang of blazing squads who were getting shafted on the 500 , anyhow a few boards on northampton , and watford gap resulted in me goin home 23up. bit of a comedown from my leicester dailys but there you are , .

if you stayed till the end , your to be applauded , i warned you it would be boring.lol

to some up , when you travel out of the comfort zones of your daily runs you cant expect to make much , not knowing whats been had etc , but treat it as a day out and dont get carried and you stil shoulnt loose, ,,,,,,, bet your all looking forward to next months tale arnt you ??

Don't worry mate i and i'm sure loads of others like reading stuff like this.

Just don't get put off by the inevitable "i'd have made 500 on the same run" type comments you're gonna get.

Aye, i always like travellers tales and the like. Good effort, any long day out not resulting in a loss is fine by me.....so long as i go home with more than i went out with i'm happy! Balanced out by the big win days you get.

Good story, good read mate, its what the site is about and it sure does make a change from people saying 'I know this, I know that', 'I made £xxxx in an hour' and all the rest of the nonsensical slaggings off there have been recently.

Nice one. :)

As a London resident - I have to applaud your efforts as I know it's very hard to have fun in this city without making an horrendous loss.

Well played!

Echoed. They don't come more realistic than that. Well done on the £70. What a stupid landlord. You deserved the £105 just to trebly piss him off. Sounds like the gold is much more, golden than any fruit machines these days.

lol yeh agreed on the goldrush, once he'd said that, if I'm honest, I wouldn't have bothered... kudos for you to have gone through with that one....

Must go up to central london one day just for a jest, cant imagine it would be great profit, but might be a laugh.

thanks for all the support guys.

wasnt sure how people would take an honest play by play acount. but the support has been overwhelming. thanks to all.

mabe we should start a travelers tales sticky , for full days stories?

judging by this im sure it would be popular . however matt m8 if you dont mind try to weedel out and ban the bullshiters otherwise it will be tarnishd with yarns of 2k up days . which in the current climate and without emptys simply isnt possible. how bout it matt set 1 up 4 us ?

lol let me explain where this type of comment comes from... If you only talk about the times you've won and never the times you've lost, you may not lie, but you don't give people a balanced viewpoint, it comes across as you are boasting and are an egomaniac. (as an example I could say I won £200 on roulette today on a terminal, forgetting to say I lost £300 on another... ( hypothetical I dont play roulette lol )

These type of people are also prone to exageration, so a £200 day magically gets posted as a £600 day etc. so you can see why people are a bit dubious and get tired of such tales, offering a contrast to bad experiences and losses gives a perspective, and shows your human and not an egomaniac.

It's a very salient point Ob and one which can't be said enough. I tend to tilt the other way. If I snoop out and bloop a sly 2'er, unless something wierd happenned, like a Monopoly Hot Property paying out, then I keep schtum.
However if I have a 'bad beat' day, then I'll usually post it up here. The most recent example being that battering in a Gala.

The only person who can really survive full time in the current playing environment is the BFK. They have the strong armour and thick skin to repel the evil landlords of doom. If one of these snipey morons was to pull the plug whilst they were getting a credit break on a rolling Cluedo, the Box Fresh would STOMP over to the bar and SWALLOW the offending barman whole. Whilst EATING the contents of the till. It's THE WAY TO PLAY.

Ditto the chain arcades. If a snidey jobsworth was to ask 'why are you holding *that* selection of symbols?', the BFK would simply BREATHE FIRE and CHARGRILL their stupid heads to the MELTED ELVIS. That is before anihilating all the value.

The BFK is a Lean, mean....no..the BFK is a MEAN, MEAN, FRUITING MACHINE that DESTROYS everything in HIS PATH. BOOOOM! CRASH!!! BANG!!!! DO NOT MESS WITH THE BFK!!!! BURN BABY BURN!!!!!! BOOOOOOOM!!!!!

<Chortle!>

Anyway, I also agree that these sort of tales are enjoyable to read. I've been getting fed up with clicking on new threads and seeing the OP has posted a one-liner asking if 'anyone doing these?'

The more JGs and Trayhops we can get, the better... ;)

I'm still a once a week player, with a fixed starting whack of £70, I'll alway make it last a full day, be it from trying the odd board on something to just drinking all day... ;) Quite often I'll finish the day £150 or so up, after having 10+ beers and bowling, if so, I may well mention it on here. Others, I might end up with nothing left, but still have enjoyed my day out - generally not worth mentioning...
