Hey dudes,I am just geting into mame playing arcade games and its preety hopeless without a joystick.Can someone please show a joystick from pc world which WILL WORK with mame. Can you stick link up and show me the best for arcade action.Im a complete newbie on this. I will even paypal you a fiver for your troubles (thats a promise) It would be usefull if it can be done asap . As going town today about 3ish. Many thanks if you can help. :o ops:

An x-arcade tankstick is the best but costs about £120 if you are a serious player.

I have an old USB adapter for PS1 controllers that works fine. Have you had a joystick not work with MAME? MAME should just use the Windows drivers to read the joystick, so if it's recognised in the Control Panel->Game Controllers bit, MAME should see it as well, and let you configure which button does what.

The only caveat would be that lots of older console games don't support analogue sticks (which most PC sticks have been for the last 20 years). You'll probably need one with a d-pad style 4-button interface (which is why I use a PS1 controller, as it has two analogue sticks, a d-pad and four main buttons). You can get PC clones of such controllers easily and cheaply, although I can't make a recommendation as I've never used any of them.

i use my old xbox pad with mame..works a treat...got off ebay...theres usb adapters for most pads....kant beat a bit of metal slug

Im in town tomoz now. So can someone put a link up to what usb convertor i need for a ps1 controller and also will a ps2 controller work aswell ? Also if you dont mind can you have a look on ebay for us ? Im a cheeky fer i know. many thanks for replies guys.
